The mother either has to be dangerously unfit or willingly forfeit the right to be the primary caregiver. Ed's vocally opposed to children. There's a video by ArthurTV where he talks about the "fight" between Liz and her friend. The friend's girlfriend actually messages him with the full story. They were leaving, and Liz was hugging them goodbye when the partners shared some inside joke that made Liz mad. Liz told them to leave (even tho they were already leaving). The girlfriend said Ed and Liz kept calling them and trying to stir up more drama, but she wouldn't play into it. So from the way she told it, I'm thinking production probably did get the "fight" on film, but they wouldn't sign releases because they didn't want to be used as some plot device. And the "fight" wasn't as juicy as the captions made it sound anyway.

I honestly think this is the best outcome. Ed has this all or nothing reaction to every little thing. This is why Liz has the fear that one fight with Ed will end the marriage because Ed will end it when something doesn't go his way. Treating people like toys is extremely toxic. nobody asked to hear my personal business. but just want to say something in response to Ken saying that he can't believe this could be a real relationship. While i can't say anything in regards to their relationship being real or not, I can promise you this exact premise of a relationship is very much a reality out there. It was mine pretty much to the T for 4 years. We had fights exactly as ridiculous as this a million times. I'd unload everything like she did, he'd reply with threats and insults. Yet I was the one begging him to stay in the aftermath. If she's truly in the situation this show portrays, then i'll just say that she's smart and aware of every single thing he does and how wrong it is and how much he hurts her. Yet she has such little self worth that she will buy into his gaslighting, and he knows it. Anytime it all finally pours out of her, he'll threaten to leave instead of apologize. while you imagine she'd just say good, go then, she'll be the one that ends up begging for him to stay and apologizing. People used to tell me I had sad eyes, and that i looked frightened and sad in general even when I felt my happiest. I didn't understand that and never did until I started watching your commentary on this show. You always comment about how sad liz looks all the time. I recognize what she's carrying behind her eyes. The reason I felt like commenting about this is because today I was going to meet back up with him for the first time in years. This feels like a reminder of everything I'm denying by allowing him the chance to come around me after staying away for so many years. You surely didn't imagine that uploading a reaction video to a goofy TLC show would potentially change someones course in life, but hey lol, it appears that's exactly what happened today lol. Forgive me but I've ended up getting lost venting here about my thoughts on this, & I'm just gonna post it instead of worrying about how I let myself get lost in the convo haha. putting this at the start to make it clear I wasn't trying to somehow inform you of anything with this. I know you dont need to have any of this explained to you.. im just venting in the open. Don't have people around that I'm comfortable discussing this with. BUt yeah, this behavior is all so familiar to me. I've found it super funny, but confusing, to see ken & buff persist it MUST be fake. I get you'd be suspicious cause it's TLC for christ sake, but the fact that their behavior is the reason they think it's fake is what left me like "huh? are they saying it's poorly acted or something?" cause I couldn't understand it's something most people havent dealt with. Makes sense though that people would usually cut those out of their lives who are capable of this looonnngg before it could evvvveeerr get this way. I guess that's the entire point of grooming, love bombing, && gaslighting being key parts of the abusers cycle. Like they clearly seek out partners who are vulnerable enough to ignore red flags that most people wont ever put up with, & then begin a cycle thats dependent on taking advantage of that vulnerability & lack of self love. I guess that means that even the love they give you is abusive. Cause when you understand the bigger picture, even the love is purposeful && tactical & to get something in return. Also its used as a weapon, so you cling to them even when the cycle moves on to steps that reveal more who they really are. & right when you can't possibly take it anymore, they'll switch back & love bomb you again, reaffirming the persons doubts about leaving and showing them it was worth enduring the fight because of all these good moments. and then it repeats. It's been 2 years for me since I left and I feel like i have years of work ahead of me before I'll even be able to simply date again. and i'm someone who's extremely social and romantic and would adore a partner. so it's not like it's normal for me to spend countless years without a partner. I just can't do it. I would be a horrible partner right now because of how messed up i am from it. But i'm trying not to give up on myself. I want to believe I can find myself again and that I'm not lost forever now.

Regarding the age difference - it can work. I am with a woman twice my age (I’m 32) and I have never been happier or more in love. But we have had the tough conversations about what will happen as she ages and so on. The issue with Ed is he goes after young women because he knows they often don’t have the life experience or confidence to say no to him yet. Not always the case, of course, but it’s a safer bet on his pathetic part.

He treats marrying like it’s a prize and boasts about how much the engagement ring was and buying Liz a car. Rose was emotionally mature enough to shut him down and she was even younger than Liz. I’m sure it’s a whole slew of issues with him. For me, I just remember a bunch of older men trying to hit on me and my friends when I was in my early twenties. I’m a lesbian so they didn’t get very far, but looking back now I can clearly see what their motives were.

As a Lesbian with female friends. I think so far this year, I have been told that I'm trying to "turn" someone, take their future "girlfriend" away from them, or accused me of hitting on my friends. One of them, activity would make me feel bad for hugging my friends because "Maybe you shouldn't be so touchy, they might think you're into them?" Or "Have you consider, that they maybe they don't want you hug them but don't wanna be homophobic?" It hurt a lot and I actually tried to avoid physical contect because of that. Taking out the probably correct idea that TLC is controlling these events to some extent, she seemed legit drunk there. Which makes me more inclined to think she wasn't acting when she said what he has been doing. Plus, if she reacts that way to his weird ass insinuation (cus I too, cannot find the logical leap there so...let's just say Big Ed logic) then it isn't the first time. Judging from his abusive, controlling and terrible behaviour that has actually been aired, it is most likely so much worse behind the tv show. If your fiance said that to every guy or girl you touched? And most likely then limited or cut off your contact with them? Yeah, hearing that bull at your engagement party would set you off. It seems random and made up to us, but it really seemed to hit a nerve in Liz. If she kept up her role while also being as drunk as she looked then she is the best actress in the world 100%.
