Liz Phair has provided my family with much of the soundtrack to our lives. My mom and sister and cousins and friends would all get so excited every time her songs came on. We saw her play in montreal not too long ago and I couldn't help but feel she was very entertained by mom sister, mother and me dancing and singing right up at the front to each song with the biggest smiles on our faces. She is the coolest. I would absolutely love my mind if I got to meet her.

Does anybody think that men aren’t just as shallow- just as vain, just as looks-focused, and just as interested in status- as women? Nobody can possibly believe that. It’s shitty, but it makes no sense to give women shit for their shallow dating preferences and pretend that this is a problem of women in our society at this time. Most people just don’t want to prioritize deeper qualities over looks and status.

Staahhp It Nikki. I appreciate your candor but you've got to observe yourself from the perspective of the guys you're trying to attract & no self respecting man who's also gorgeous & successful(your standards)will be interested in being the boyfriend to someone who's been documenting her desperation publicly across all platforms. It cheapens the whole process of falling in love organically. We all want to feel like the chosen one, not just the one who was chosen. You can't give away what you don't have & a (wo)man won't feel confident with someone who's not feeling confident with themselves. It's more complimentary to win the affection of someone who is so satisfied with their own company that if you manage to jumpstart their dating interest, it must mean you're exceptional. Feelings are assholes, I know but you're inadvertently hurting your own feelings going about things this way. Stop breaking your own heart. Ugh I'm disgusted with all my bumper sticker philosophy but you're worth my momentary self-cringiness 🙃

I think that that’s not true. Most guys that I’ve ever heard discussing the subject have been absolutely opposed to pubic hair on women. This is certainly anecdotal and therefore of limited use in trying to persuade you of my point, but I do totally believe that this isn’t one of those issues that women made up themselves only to claim that it’s a burden placed on them by men.

@Aced843 жыл бұрын
Online going to events, hanging out at a bar maybe joining a group or club that shares interests and through networking you can possibly meet someone there, going to certain conventions because there are also established ppl looking for love at those of course this was way easier pre covid and once things start to open up again will seem more possible but I would suggest putting yourself out there literally and genuinely mingling with people and it will eventually lead somewhere. Be careful with someone who is younger and they're intentions and don't let your desperation turn into you being used by someone who doesn't care for you like you do them

@Michael_Lorenson5 жыл бұрын
Nikki, first of all, you should absolutely have a boyfriend. I recently discovered you, and have become a huge fan of your work. Between your stand-up, your talk show appearances, and You Up, I have now sat in on untold hours of you talking about mostly men and relationships. And that is so cool. I can't tell you how much I appreciate it and enjoy it. I love the boundaries you're pushing, and the way you do that. I share your passion for exposing the absurdities embedded in human nature and culture. A more tangled web, you will never find. Plus, you are fucking funny! BTW, I'm also from St. Louis, and I'm sure that's part of my attraction to you; the fact that we grew up in the exact same cultural location. It just makes me comfortable with you. However, as a guy, this whole episode was both fascinating and disturbing at the same time. That has become an all too familiar set of conflicted feelings, when listening to women talk about men and relationships. I am a man who has felt compelled by events in my own life, and also by the constant and dramatic American cultural evolution which has taken place over the course of my entire life, to really put a lot of thought and time into coming to grips with all of it. Long story short, it's all my mother's fault. Just kidding, of course. But she was one of the women who, in 1968, up-ended American culture from a whole new angle by actually acting on their shared impulse to break free of the status quo. There was a lot of collateral damage, as there always is in any revolution. I think that's a dimension of this episode's discussion where you will find clues to some of the answers you seek. I'd love to discuss it with you.

getting pretty tiresome hearing women whine about makeup. nobody makes you wear makeup. even as you said, its the women who pointed out your makeuplessness. you do not need to wear makeup. if a man showed up at a show wearing makeup, the audience would be mildly surprised if he wasnt wearing it next time. if a woman showed up at a show wearing makeup, the audience would be mildly surprised if she wasnt wearing it next time. if you dont wear makeup the first time, nobody expects it the next time either.

There's so much wrong about this podcast that I almost don't know where to start... First off please stop making excuses and to blame men for all your problems, we don't care about makeup, we don't care about your hair, we don't like to wait 2 hours for you to get ready to leave the house, and foremost we are not the ones judging you for looks. Any magazine, internet blog/vlog/journal, TV-show or anything doing that is specifically designed towards female audiences. You call yourselves feminists when in fact you act like misandrists. Take Nikki for instance, she only wants a super hot guy that also makes a lot o cash and is open for relationship. Please know your value... check out the girls a dude with that profile can get (it's 9s and 10s) and that is definitely not Nikki-territory - and then add her emotional baggage to this equasion. She just makes men responsible for her misery while she is fishing in the wrong tank. And she compares her looks to Liz? C'mon Nikki, if you were a guy she'd be soooo way out of your league... Then hear what Liz has to say. So she dated a guy that clearly told her that he was *NOT OPEN FOR RELATIONSHIP* and still she tries to make it his fault it didn't end up in a relationship? - like WTF dude??? And she wants somebody to be on-call when she needs it but stays out of her sight the rest of the time - she doesn't need a man, she wants a dog and a sex-toy.
@MichaelJames-lz7ni5 жыл бұрын
Um, STOP. You DO CARE if a woman puts-effort into her appearance. If your GF seduced you in a pair of hunting boots and paint-splattered overalls, because you're Mr. Farmers-Only-dot-com, then fine. Otherwise, you're just spouting B.S.

@@MichaelJames-lz7ni I wouldn't even care if she was in a Pikatchu costume when she was seducing me (and i'm not a furry). I love her and I know what's under that costume. I had GFs that won't leave the house without putting makeup on and they carry a lot of issues/problems I don't wanna deal with. I also don't care about if a woman is skinny, regular or chubby as long as it doesn't harm her health (too big or too skinny) and her confidence - I just can't stand women who won't let you touch certain body parts or only have sex in the dark.

There are LOTS of women who put ZERO effort into their appearance or weight-control because they don't care about 'what anyone else thinks'....they're called Lesbians, and I have a sneaking suspicion you won't be getting to third-base with one. Amazing how men like to boast about how they "don't care" about these things....when obviously, they don't put any effort into their OWN appearance or weight-control, either.

@@MichaelJames-lz7ni Your style of arguing is so corny. You just arrogantly announce to the other person that they are "wrong" and "lying" when they are telling you THEIR opinion.
