I have never played the table top but I really appreciate the time and effort you guys put into these. I play Warhammer Total War and I love to watch these fantasy battles and see how the real game is played. I just want you guys to know how well made these are even for someone ignorant of the rules! it feels way too derpy and unbalanced to have a fun campaign. Custom battles can be fun, but you get sick of the weird derpyness after a while.

And why am I wrong? Yes medieval 2 had its fair share of bugs, and barely any good mods, but the game was amazing.Siege battles were how they were meant to be played. It had loads of factions and units to mess around with. The graphics, while not the best, still were enjoyable and not a sore to look at. I have played and own every total war except for total war:Empire and warhammer 2. I believe I actually have the correct opinion, seeing as ive seen all the games.

First, there is no right opinion. They're all just opinions and everyone is entitled to their own. Second, while it is not the worst total war by a long shot, it's definitely not the best. I agree that the graphics aren't that bad, and there are loads of units and factions. The only problem with that is that All of the infantry are reskins and do the exact same thing. The sieges are also really exploitable. The AI was terrible, and had no idea how to do a siege defense or attack. The UI is also pretty bad, and its way harder to micro then some of the newer ones. Just for reference, I've played all of them besides the Original shogun and Medival.

AoS makes me sad. Warhammer Fantasy was, in my opinion, the best fatnasy setting out there. It had heights of high magic while still being grounded in some reality (ex: Super deamon legions going up against peasants with spears) in a sea of WoW-esque crap. It's lore was so rich. It had character and grit. I'm going to miss it.

Yeah I felt the same way as well when they discontinue they change the LOTR game. I love the warhammer but I hate citadel, they used to be decent but then succumbed to idiot fad marketing gimmicks for short attention span retards. On the plus side we can just buy the minis on ebay and keep playing anyways, like how people still use the 3rd edition of Dungeon and Dragon.

I love this battle report. No huge superheroic lords, but instead simply a few, with the units being what truly mattered. I hope future battle reports will use this formula, to give us more engaging battles, where everything is not about who has boosted his lord and death star unit the most.

First of all sorry if my English isn't the best (I normally write german commentarys ^^) I think the Skaven player has to throw a dice at the end of each of his turns for the Fellblade (in german "Die Grimmklinge", which is strength 10 and causes D6 wounds) and if eh throws a 1 or 2 the Carrier of the Fellblade looses 1 wound... I love this Blade but it killed my General in the last few games against my friend's Tomb Kings :D ... This is why I always remember this rule...

I think when the doom rocket hit dead center on the building for only d6 hits is kinda cheep, considering it use the big template, which easily cover like 17 warriors... I know you guys agreed on this in the house rules but still... another thing... the doom wheels cause TERROR(pg. 67 skaven book), so the saurus warriors needed to take a fear test on the charge, and the skinks which collin charged needed to take a terror test... and rat ogres cause fear as well as the kroxigors... so the taurus warriors also needed that fear test(pg. 55 skaven book).. Rat ogres is monsters creatures, just like kroxigors, so they have stomp as well :/ !!! The warlord had the fell blade, which means it causes D6 wounds instead of 1.. and at the end of each of the wielders turns needs to roll a D6, on a roll of 3+ no effekt and a roll of 1 or 2 he looses a wound.. Main unit as well won combat two times, but he didn't reform facing front? more attacks? :/ Sad face! AND! Stubborn guys? come on! game changer forgetting that.. BTW the warp-energy condenser rules, is listed at pg 108, where you guys got it right "during each friend magic phase a grey seer or warlock engineer with a warp-energy condenser can, on a D6 roll of 5+ generate an ekstra power dice. Collin need to read rulebook once again :b BUT NICE to see you guys keeping' the flag up for 8th edition.. enjoyed this at least :)

A good place to start would be a starter box, it contains a set of two armies, a rulebook and the templates( i think). You should be able to get one on amazon. Fair warning though Games workshop really changed the rules a lot. Try searching for the rule set of 9th age. Its a really good set of rules that uses the models of GW.

I feel silly seeing skirmishers on a movement tray... there were so many things I didn't do correctly in WFB. I was with the group of kids who packed their regiments down so every infantry was sitting in their designated spot in that old GW hard case.

The Warp Energy Condenser is a bit of flavour thing. Many a people accepted it just as modified channel, since when the rules for WEC were made, there was no channeling to begin with and when rules for channel came, GW was still the tolerable lazy behemoth instead of the spasmy sales-first corporate baby it's nowadays pumping five FAQs a month and two major rules changes to boot, so... They never bothered to address it in any FAQs. Would probably have become 5+ channel had they ever bothered from fanficing Ground Primaris for AoS, but... As for RAW it's 5+ to get an extra die and then they can channel as well. Though I always played it as 5+ channel. Like true line of sight being from some part of body to another part instead of tip of weapon shooting an end of a tail, but to each for their own. Also if Doomwheel has two targets equal distance from it, the owning player decides who to zap. Alsoalso Rat Ogres only test for stupidity if they are without a Packmaster. And they are Immune to Psychology, so no Panic tests. Aaaand Wheels cause Terror so Sauruses should have tested while fighting it.

My friends still play 8th edition and after years of being disappointed in Games Workshop for changeing the system so much with AoS they got me into playing 8th edition again. Since then I'm searching the internet far and wide for everything Skaven 8th edition related. I just really love the infantry file and rank system and could never get myself to switch to round bases. I hope so much that Warhammer The Old World will go back to this. edit: correct mistakes
