Good hacks Liz. Also for the bathroom garbage you could add a little felt used for bottom of chairs. stick it on and you can re add oil when you want.

Yes , and better if you have pets ….a lot of oils are toxic to pets ….so if the do get into it it’s stuck to the inside of the can , and not just on a cotton ball !

I appreciate you trying all these things out. With the tape I find it easier to fold the end sticky sides together to make a small flap. No paperclip needed. I also use a clothespin for the nail. Also put a magnet on your hammer and you won't drop nails or have to put them in your mouth to hold on to them. 🙂

Hi Liz Two Comments, I use the Dollar General small razors blades to get the labels off, they work great and come three to a package, I think. The other hack is for watering your plants if you put the water in 24 hours before you water it will let the Clorene settle which makes it much better for your house plants .. Thank you for your great hints..

Chlorine does not settle; however you can leave the tap water in sunlight-it will degrade the chlorine

Hi Liz!! Another option for trash bags in your car: I have a roll of doggie poop bags in each door. They are compact, easy to grab and you can dispose of the trash at any stop you make.

Great hacks! A few drops of essential oil will also remove the sticky residue from labels. Drop the oil in the area then wipe off with a paper towel I place a paper towel under my plastic trash bags. Drop a small amount of essential oil on the towel and it helps eliminate odors. Love your tips and craft ideas!

I love that you do hack videos. I bought an electric knife for 50 cents at a yard sale. I don't use it to cut food but it works great on styrofoam or thick cushion foam. It does make a mess like scissors or a regular knife.

I actually really liked the way the plant looked with the two different colored Dry Goods in the jar. Also if you just fold over the very end of your tape that works without using anything. Nurses use this all the time on medical tape

I've been using the acetone (active ingredient in nail polish remover) trick for years. From experience, here's some extra tips that I've found to be most effective. *Make sure what you're using is 100 percent strength (sold in the cosmetic section under "professional strength" or check the craft or hardware sections/stores for full strength and dilute as needed). *In a well ventilated space (those with respiratory conditions and/or eye sensitivity use a mask and goggles) fold up a paper towel & soak it, then hold a few seconds firmly over label residue. *Rub downwards in the same direction (rubbing back and forth will spread residue further instead of fully removing) towards the bottom edge of container, folding the towel to a clean side if it starts to build up. *Once surface is clear, remove any excess on the edge of container, safely dispose of acetone paper towel, hand wash container with hot soapy water, and rinse thoroughly, allowing it air dry, then use as needed. *Also same trick works to remove sharpie labeling on glass containers, just use a little less acetone and wash container immediately. *DO NOT use this technique on plastic containers, especially hard plastic, as it will damages, etch and cloud those surfaces. *Finally, just to be extra, if you don't like labels on the lid, either spray paint or hand paint the exterior only to match your aesthetic. Additionally, if you don't have paper clips, use a clean toothpick, either pressed vertically on the seam of the tape with a bit of the pick popping out the edge or on the edge of tape end horizontally with the pick sticking out so you can pull the end up and use the tape easily.

Great tips! To get the sticky residue off of your jars, mix a paste of oil (and old vegetable oil, not the expensive stuff) and baking soda, smear it on the jar until all of the sticky stuff is covered, let sit for 30 minutes to an hour, and then just wash it off with dawn. So simple, uses stuff already in the house, and no real work is involved. This works best if the entire label is removed, with no paper left.

I just use a little vegetable oil on my palms, rub it on the glue residue on the jar... let it sit for a while on the kitchen counter...wash it off the next day when you wash dishes. SIMPLE. No need for other products... And you are not breathing in toxic acetone fumes!!!! Occasionally a second oil film treatment is needed.... but not typical. .

Thank you Liz for your great ideas. Also l never throw old or rancid oil away as l use it to remove the glue from glass or plastic anywhere is necessary l just pour enough to cover the glued space let it rest for an hour and rub it off in one direction with a paper towel, depending on the kind and amount of glue you might have to repeat but works really well. God bless

To remove labels on jars, the easiest way I have found is to spray Pam (or usr regular vegetable oil on paper towels) on the sticky residue , let it sit for a few minutes and rub the area. You may have to reapply the spray. The labels will come off cleanly and you will just have to wash the oil off the jar with regular dish soap. I find it works very well for me.

For the car trash can you can used the doggie poop pick up bags on a roll. This way it can stay rolled u nice and neat. Also the little dog bones that hold the dog bags come in all different designs so you can keep them in some thing you like and it is neat and cute and you always have a replacement bag at hand. Liz I love all your ideas. I’m a former crafter that suffers from depression and anxiety. As you know to craft you need a clear mind to make the best crafts. Well because of the pandemic I spoke with my therapist virtually. She saw how down I was, She knew how much I loved crafting in my younger years. Not having a lot of money and always looking at pretty things that I wished I could have, I bought myself a glue gun and I was on my way. It helped me to make extra money in my spare time being a mother of 4 kids in 5yrs and always looking and finding a bargain. I made center Pieces for birthday parties communions confirmations. I made party gifts to give out after a party. I was the first in my neighborhoods to make Hanukkah wreath even though I was not Jewish but my husband was. It also kept me busy and I made a lot of friends. I taught a few friends how to make certain crafts once a week. Well she turned me onto your U tube videos at the age of 60yrs old and I realized once a crafter always a crafter. It really gave me back happiness and I started feeling like I accomplished something when I would make a craft or put wallpaper on an old piece of furniture. I used the pant for clothes and made my 5 grandchildren T-shirts, smocks for school crafts and mix and match sweat outfits with painting something simple on the leg of a sweat pant and on the top corner of the sweat shirt. The kids wore them all winter and saved my daughter a lot of money. Now she is planning to make Somme cute outfits for the fall.So to anyone out there if I could put my depression to sleep or on the back burner just buy taking out that same old glue gun and starting to crafting anyone can. Liz gave me great ideas and while doing crafts I am working a long with her and I don’t feel a lone. Thank you sweetheart you gave this old lady happiness and looking forward to life again!!
