I live in the Region of this nest, the unseasonal cold wet weather with high winds day and night for the period Rubus was swept out of the nest were, no doubt, just too much of a challenge for him. We humans owe so much to the nature world that has suffered because of the impact we have had on climate and wild life habitat.

Can't stop this sadness that has invaded me today. Rubus had a difficult life, always fighting for his food and space. I was hoping he could overcome all of that and become a stronger falcon because of it. He was so precious. I'm holding back the tears, but also want to let them flow for him. Soar high, Rubus. Well said Janet. Isn't it interesting the level of emotion this event has generated. To my surprise, I cried and felt quite sad for a couple of days when I received this news too. 3rd day after video upload. More than 11.000 people watched it, over 250 have to say their own personal farewells to this little falcon. Imagine all the people together at one place with Rubus. After all the difficulties that are out there in this world, especially in the last years, I can learn something from our winged friends about living on earth. All that is needed for people from all over the world to be together, communicate and enjoy each other is a falcon family and a cam. Thank you, Rubus, and sorry for all the human projections we always make (just look at me, here). Some said Rubus may have died in-flight, with open wings, at high speed. So maybe, his last feelings may have been the falcon versions of freedom and hope.

Thx liznm for this tribute to Rubus. The surprise egg hatched...a chick so brave and strong, I think he had a good nesthood, appeared healthy and happy to grow and live with his sibling Indigo. After his sudden fledge I still didn't expect his sudden death...it seems to me it has been a short and sudden casualty without any long illness and suffering. Oh no! So sad that he was found dead. He was doing so good. That's a shame because all the previous years only one hatched and it was great to have 2 in the box. Now we only have one again. It's a tough world out there for fledglings😭💔 love the videos of them in the first few weeks when they were small and fuzzy. The cuddling they used to have together, preening each other, loafing❤❤❤they were a really cute pair together. Hope that Indigo thrives and reaches adulthood with success ❤

I wish I could upvote this video a million times. I was crushed to hear the news. I've spent a while processing it. I still have an image of Rubus in a tree as my phone wallpaper.
