Blanket is beautiful but it would have been really helpful to show applying the slip stitch on your sampler with the colors and strands hanging. This is the most challenging part of the blanket and I'm feeling a little lost without seeing how the final process goes on the actual blanket.

Noted! It's actually quite simple keep them to one side as you crochet, bunch them up, tie them in a loose knot, that's what l do, Anja x

@@OpheliaTalks I have just started the slip stitch round and have tried laying the threads along but it doesn’t seem to pick them up, should I be doing this on this row it on Row 2? Thank you.

So that means the top and bottom will be 194 border slip stitches and sides, well that's to be determined...phew! Nearly ready...and should I knot any of the ends or will they be safe without. Thanks for your help. Have really enjoyed this journey😊

Anya.....could you use a scrap color, like pink, for the slip stitch work...so that it is easy to find amongst the multiple Lizzie colors? Does the slip stich get covered well enough?
@OpheliaTalks3 жыл бұрын
I did not want to use a scrap colour just in case it would stand out… you do not want to take the risk if you see the pink strands through it after all that hard work!!!

When doing the slip stitches down the sides do you keep the strands up toward the edge of the blanket or keep them tucked down so that they’re caught under the mocha that you’re using to do the slip stitches?
@OpheliaTalks2 жыл бұрын
I keep them free of the slip stitches so they get enveloped into the border nicely, no poking out, Anja x
@susanwittrock45022 жыл бұрын
on the border with Mocha 194 stitches on the top and bottom how many stitches along the sides ther are 150 rows so how many slips (stitches ) are to be made
@OpheliaTalks2 жыл бұрын
Hi Susan, this is a difficult one to answer, I don't specify in the video or pattern because each of us is different, we crochet at different tensions. Saying that, less is more on this project, you want enough but not too many. Try doing 2 stitches then 1 stitch per row and alternate it down the side, see how it lays as you're going along, if it looks puckered then you'll need to rip it back and add some more. Hope this helps Anja x

The sides are a bit tricky. I couldn’t pick up the back slip stitches on my sample as I’d made them too tight so went up half a hook size.

Anja, I’ve finally finished the blanket but am confused as to what you do with the strands- how are they picked up and covered so they are not needed to be sewn in? Checked all the videos but didn’t find any answers. Thanks. Angela

I explain it in the border episodes Angela, you do the border and enclose the ends like a sandwich. Anja x

@@OpheliaTalks I just watched ‘Mr.Darcy A’ re the border and I guess it’s on the first HDC row that you lay the strands x does this not make it very lumpy??

I’m having a hard time on the sides because I knotted my ends together at each color change. I’m so frustrated with myself. So tomorrow is another day and I’ll try once again. I’m open to advice and suggestions. TIA

I actually did a bit of math then crocheted a single crochet ( may have been hdc) stitch evenly around the blanket. I used that as a base. It worked out great.
