I adore the aesthetics and overall vibe of that system. The world needs more classic styled systems like that.

Me too! Reminds me of the Treasure Island - Mirage tram in Las Vegas.

That's interesting. I ❤ trains, trams, take a ride, I have a folder on ''transportation'' (folder 2, in playlists) you will love them too :)

I can't stop gushing over how GOOD this kind of approach can make a "simple sheetmetal box" look.

Great video as always Luke! This is such a strange system. But somehow it looks like it works!

I have an extremely hard time believing that this was meaningfully cheaper than a conventional railway solution - though I do like the grade crossings on an automated system.

I believe it look at all the airports in Florida very similar system only they’re elevated typically not ground level.
@ryy4n_11 ай бұрын
it goes like 1,600 ft, theres no need for a big conventional railway

Wow that is super cool! It’s like a modern airport and railway with old trams haha

A rather strange system but I love the train aesthetics and the abundance of more color for the setting (less grey LOL).

It's like a monorail at ground level. Very weird.

Seems overly complicated for a Gadgetbahn. Why not use simpler track tech like the Bombardier trams in Bordeaux to eliminate tire maintenance, catenary, and complicated crossings?

Simple and consumer friendly. This is how they should be designed

The guiding system is similar to Sapporo subway. The level crossing is probably unique!
@Luke_Starkenburg2 жыл бұрын
Sapporo's subway center rail is for guidance only. The center rail on the Maui system is like Dallas's DFW Airport train, where it also gets it's power from the center rail.

👍 jolie vidéo. Un aspect vintage pour une exploitation ultra moderne... Bravo aux concepteurs. La motorisation est alimentée par batteries ou prise de courant par le rail central ? Amitiés de Belgique 🤗

That is the most unique rail transit crosswalk I have ever seen! Is that tram running automatically? What if someone is stuck in the middle of the crosswalk?
@Luke_Starkenburg2 жыл бұрын
No, there are drivers. I think this system should be automatic because with sensors, it should be safe.

If only this thing had existed a decade ago, I would’ve wanted to ride it for hours and hours 🤣 Might get to see it next year but who knows Also in my opinion when the crossing gates close the bells start ringing too late..

Instead of onlyy at the airport, they should run all over the island to reduce car traffic.
