Sarakurayama Cable Car and Slope Car - 皿倉山ケーブルカ

The Sarakurayama Cable Car and Slope car are near Kitakyushu Japan in the Fukuoka Prefecture. The views from the top of Mount Sarakura are incredible! The Slope Car is an automated Monorail (with an onboard attendant) system with a leveling system to keep the car upright.

I especially love how the Slope Car seems to defy gravity by not tipping over from that relatively tiny monorail; clearly further proof of the Japanese being ahead of the (at least the North American) game in terms of applying cutting-edge technology - as relatively simple as it might be - to real infrastructure. Nice monorail. There is a similar system near Oji station in Tokyo.

I think I’ve seen the inclined monorail in Tokyo when riding on the Shinkansen. I’ve taken note of where it is so I can go visit it when I am back in Tokyo next time.
