I remember hearing this remix version for the first time in the summer of 1986 on Chicago's WHPK radio. This is definitely a street corner blasting, JVC cassette tape boomboxing, B-boying, Hip-Hop classic. I like this version better compared to the album version. Today's so called hip-hop artists really need to take notes of how artists during that era used breakbeats, scratching, freestyling, and sampling to make it into an art form. Queen Latifah said there is no art in today's hip-hop!

@jayelbee11116 жыл бұрын
DUSM Yeah, all you need is scotch tape, a screwdriver to open the cassette, and a pencil to wind it back up after you assemble it together, done! Those were the good ol' days! I used to listen to J.P. Chill on WHPK playing straight up underground hip hop!

Purity-the essence of a culture that defined a time in urban America that changed our horizons. Listening to the pure energy of an art form, captured in LL's vocals. Rakim is like jazz, KRS-1 and KMDare like refined art, DMC, PE, and PE are reminiscent of the crafty ensembles. None were like LL in his prime, he was rock n roll, soul, blues, and classic rolled into one. This is poetry, and it's pure.

@JayTronik : Indeed, he was the greatest!!! Those who were there and can remember the time could never deny that. He was the Michael Jackson of rap in terms of his untouchable status, but for some reason, over time, he has declined dramatically. I don't understand how such a thing could happen. What happened to the vocabulary??? What happened to the soulful passion and confidence that touched and inspired us all? It seems that he has lost his soul and attempts to fake it with an ego facade.
