Okay guys, hear me out on this one : Zed needs a rework. Riot obviously can't balance the champ AND make it not frustrating to play against. For example, I've watched games with objectively bad Zed players, but when they reach three items, they can just OS somebody with AA-E-Q (crit build). Frustration when playing against Zed is also a major topic when league players are asked about the champion : too many gap closers, too much escape potential, hard to punish an all-in etc... So, hearing all that, let's look at Zed's current build, starting from level 3 cuz we all know Zed is shit pre 3. Strength : - High poke range with W, outranging most midlaners - High wave clear - Hard to punish because you can farm with Q - Has a lot of build options to adapt to the game : crit build for max dmg, CDR/bruiser build for mobility and extended team fights, defensive items etc... - Can mostly just one shot squishies with very little counterplays and low skill floor when Zed reaches 3 items, thanks to E ignite passive AA dmg - High escape, huge gap closing and all-in power Weaknesses : - Falling behind in a lot of match ups leaves very little room for comeback and reduces significantly team fight impact Riot's approach to the situation has been to nerf Zed's double/triple Qs dmg, reduced Q dmg, reduce E dmg, remove R's AD steroids etc... This approach is wrong, it does not remove the frustrating aspects of Zed's gameplay, it does not make the champion fun to play and it does not change the skill floor issue. My approach : - Remove Q dmg reduction after the first shuriken, and remove Q dmg reduction after the first target ; slightly reduce standard Q damage - Make Q damage conditional on W usage : as soon as you place your W, your Q dmg is significantly reduced (let's say halved) ; BUT the second and third shuriken deal increased damage, that will make up for the first Q's dmg loss and why not, even exceed current triple Q damage (by a little, let's not make Zed too OP) - Mix current E with the passive and leave the increased AA damage for jungle monsters and lane minions ; switch W reset mechanic over to Q (2 seconds for each shuriken that connects) - Create a new ability for E : passive - increase MS/AD/some other stat ; active - increase Zed's damage output by a % (based on stacks collected throughout the game ?) for a set number of seconds or smth else entirely (Riot do your job) These changes will make playing against Zed less frustrating because even dodging one shuriken will significantly reduce Zed's burst output. It will also raise the skill floor on Zed and force players to not rely solely on their E ignite AA dmg to one shot squishy targets, Q will become even more important than before and Zed players won't be able to rush a build that will completely remove the need for Qs to burst down their targets. Please feel free to discuss that idea, I really feel like Zed needs a rework in the current meta as Riot has proven time and time again they can't balance the champ as is
