Thanks for the demonstration Aaron. Thanks for recording this Richard. Still can't get over the size of this organ. Looking forward to the upcoming recital.

Great demonstration of a wonderful large and eclectic organ. The build up to full organ is especially nice and seamless!

I really hope there's a sample set made of this organ at some point! Thanks for the demonstration, Aaron.

Stunning organ extremely well demonstrated by Aaron. The strings and Swell reeds are superbly voiced and have gravitas but without harshness, the same could be said of the Great chorus reeds. I like the Solo “Orchestral Trumpet “ being enclosed. The Diapason Choruses on Great and Swell are very well voiced and even without the Mixtures provide a good and substantial support for congressional singing. There are some lovely families of Flute stops at various pitches and tones. On the Pedal there is adequate Chorus work which I think would work without using the Manual to Pedal couplers. The Pedal Reeds are outstanding and are good support for Full Organ. The “Bombard” ranks are phenomenal but are effective if used with a degree of restraint. To sum up, I would rate this organ fairly highly, having heard Aaron’s splendid demonstration. Unfortunately I live over in Kingston Upon Hull, East Yorkshire so I am not exactly on the doorstep to attend the Recitals but should I visit the area, I would like to come and hear the organ and if it could be arranged, have a short play. I am a Church Organist of semi-professional ability and occasionally play Recitals when invited to do so. Very Best Regards to all in the Music Department. David William Craggs ALCM

It figures I would be an hour late. (Long phone call from my 87 year old mother.) Looking forward to watching all of this now, even if late. Glad to be hearing some of Nicholson’s work since that’s who I think you said is doing the rebuild for Gloucester.

What a magnificent organ pipes on both sides. I can imagine the roof lifting if all the stops are pulled out

Wow. what a beast! That will be a great instrument to play and to listen to. I enjoyed the tour. Clearly a great piece of work, and I am sure it will be a blessing for years to come.

I found this to be a real eye opener, being a non-musician myself, but one who really, really loves the sound of a pipe organ. Another organist who has been instrumental in my understanding and appreciation of the organ is a fellow named Ben Maton, who hails from Salisbury, studied at Oxford. His specialty are the organs found in the numerous small, parish churches down in his neck of the woods. I love being informed and serenaded the same time. Well done!

A fine demonstration of a awesomely WICKED (new) Cathedral organ. What a great weekend in store for BiS followers. Let the Llandaff organ purr like a kitten and ROAR like a LiON!

I was surprised by some sounding colours, certainly very versatile. Early French music will sound lovely on it too (like the assembled Cornet sound of the Choir division)

Last time I stood in llandaff dr Michael Smith was the main organist , way back in 88 and of course what was functional of the old organ , was any of the old organ salvaged for the new ?

H Richard I very much enjoyed your performance of Simon Preston's Alleluyas, by way of tribute to him. You commented that he recorded Messiaen's La Nativite suite whilst organ scholar at Kings College Cambridge. In fact he recorded the L'Ascension suite whilst at Kings (apparently on only 1 week's notice) and recorded the La Nativite suite whilst sub-organist of Westminster Abbey in the 1960's.

"Wicked" means "Good" in the king's English. I am very much looking forward to being wicked in the BiS "Naughty Corner Choir Organ Loft" this afternoon. I will attempt to behave in a civilized manner, but have no guarantees. Springtime is almost here in the northern hemisphere, and i have very little control of the BiS cat's purring volume.

Wonderful sound. Love your stop list graphics. Do you have to manually edit each stop change (eg by keeping an eye on exactly what is drawn when) or is there some sort of electronic trickery involved (guessing that's unlikely!)

Why the ugly and tacky McDonald's golden arches¿ Need to paint them yellow if you must keep them there. They dont fit in well with the rest of the building design. I like to see music played on the organ. But the demos of the stops is of no interest.
@orgue3461 Жыл бұрын
So why watch it? The title explains that it is a stop demonstration. Free, high quality content & you only complain about it. So ungrateful

The arches are part of the sculpture of Christ in Majesty by Epstein, you philistine.
