Today, we’re exploring the history of the Welsh village of Llawhaden in Pembrokeshire…
Home to the impressive Llawhaden Castle, in it’s day a luxurious fortified mansion for the bishops of St David's. The village also hosts the remains of a medieval chapel hospital, with an impressive vaulted stone roof creating a haunting atmosphere with limestone stalactites forming on the arches... And down by the river, St Aidens, a medieval church reconstructed in the 1800s, in the centre of the rear wall is an inscribed stone pillar, hinting towards an older sacred site.
