Just watched an LL COOL J documentary. After he wrote the song "I need love" he was heavily scrutinized and criticised in the industry from 87-90 with that track. He went to his grandmother for guidance and council. She told him "Todd, go to the basement and write a song, and knock 'em out" This was the response he took from those words from her about his treatment in the industry at the time.

Have seen ‚The Hard Way‘ and in the 90ies it was so difficult to get some sort of tracks in Europe. I don‘t appreciate the so called ‚social media‘ that much but through YT I gained the soundtrack of my youth back. And it is as cool as it was in the 90ies … 😎

@@hansmuller3651 I lived near Paris, still, sounds from abroad were pretty overpriced if not coming from the Virgin megastore. Shoplifting from those was a rite of passage. Plenty of good writers singers that I'm glad don't fit radioshit. but also too much marketing skills are wasted on people who have nothing but to be polite as guidelines. Call me old school but I hear with my ears. SYA made a point not to show her face and bring a teenager on Tour to represent her. that's how shallow we think people have become.

Marley's a beast for producing this. FUN FACT: In the beginning when L.L. says, "C'mon man,", well, the engineer was taking forever to cue the track and L.L. was getting upset, so he was like, "C'mon man,", and Marley decided to keep it in there, and the rest is history!!

Reminds me of the Michael Jackson 'Beat It' song. There's a part you can hear knocking on the song because someone was actually knocking on the studio window glass, and Quincey Jones decided to keep it in. Also in the Jackson 5 song 'I'll Be There" he messed up the line about looking over the shoulder but they decided to leave it, flaws and all.
