Ülle Ulla dancing "Bolero" and "El amor brujo"

ÜLLE ULLA (1934-2016) was an Estonian dancer, singer and actress. She graduated from the Tallinn Ballet School in 1953 and thereafter worked as a soloist at the Estonian National Opera. Her most memorable ballet roles include The Woman in "Bolero" by Ravel, Candelas in "The Bewitched Love" ("El amor brujo") by de Falla, Gudule in "Esmeralda" and the title role in "Medea". After the end of her dancing career Ülle Ulla continued to act in musicals and operettas (e.g as Frl Schneider in "Cabaret" and Tangolita in "Bal im Savoy") as well as in drama performances (Older Woman in "The Hour of the Lynx" by Enquist, Martha "Who Is Afraid of Virginia Woolf" by Albee, Jean Horton in "Quartet" by Harwood and many others). She has been characterised as an aristocratic and somewhat mysterious artist. For twenty years Ülle Ulla was married to the well-known Estonian conductor Eri Klas.
