Get it. Huawei Mate 70 Pro still Using Harmony OS 4.3 AOSP out of the box but do not update it into Harmony OS Next because of the App limitation. Currently saving up my money to purchase the phone. don't worry about the GMS there's a turn arround on how to inject it to the phone software directly. But Android Auto and Google Pay will not working....That's it.

Very keen to get a Huawei phone but bit put off by the lack of google services that I unfortunately have to use. You seem very knowledgeable in this space so if I may ask: Have seen reviews re android emulators like GBox / GSpace being sketchy; easyabroard and droitong are emulators as well (or containers? I am no android dev so not sure if any difference) and are developed by some unheard of Chinese developers seemingly unrelated to Huawei. Is MicroG a better alternative? Is it safe? (am aware it’s open source but not gonna audit it😅)? Anyhow, what’s the best way to get google on harmony OS in your opinion?

It's says that I need to change region, I changed region to China and didn't work. I connected WiFi with CN vpn and again synchrony didn't work. Currently, there are no plans to roll out the HarmonyOS Next system to other regions globally. For containerized apps, ensuring correct operation requires synchronization with the system time.

Notifications for X, Mastodon and Telegram are working fine for me on Next. As for staying on 4.3 this is what I would recommend until 5.1 is out maybe.

I think they might work on a tighter integration and license options for Google Play Services. There are documents showing this already. For now though you are safe as long as Android 12 will be supported by Google and other third parties

They have a lot of chinese app makers porting over their apps for the system natively. Android in a container is no emulation but is not the final solution just a third party help that eases the pain. Final solution should be native apps.

I am an australian, currently living in china. Ive played about with the Mate 70 pro plus and the RS, but i cant buy one and take it back to australia, because the government will block it from running on the network, even thought it has the required bands. Bummer. I may just buy it anyway, for the cameras alone, and it will still do everything when connected to my home LAN, just not make phone calls. I can just buy a 100 dollar cheap phone for calls. I'm waiting to see the first full reviews of the Mate 70 Pro phone, focusing on the cameras. Comparing it to other phones. I'm really pissed off with the communist governement of australia. China govt does a far better job that benefits its citizens.
