A nice trip down memory lane as I had one around 1981 as an old banger runabout while I saved up for another car. But I really liked it!!!! It was a pretty well hammered car, big ends rattled if I drove it over 55 mph so I stuck to 55 max. It had "air con", a big hole in the door - a big lump of filler fell out one day as I drove along. But I still liked it, it was such a nice little car to drive. After I picked it up I took it straight to the small garage I used for servicing etc to have it checked over, being a little safety conscious, and it was given a clean bill of health etc and it cost me about £100 from memory, maybe less! I ran it for several months and it never let me down. A great little car.

Dad had an M reg Toledo 1300 in pale blue with grey vinyl interior when I was a kid, he painted it dark blue and swapped out the interior from another scrapped triumph with wooden door cappings and and dark blue velvety corduroy type material it look lovely, it never had a radio ever in time Dad had it which made trips boring as hell, he did tow two family caravans with it in the time he owned it , that was quite remarkable given how it was so not suited for towing but it did tow slow and steady.

Fantastic, sir! These Toledos and their other Triumph related brethren were everywhere back in the day. This is particularly nice car. Kudos to the owner. Thank you, Joseph.

It is in stunning condition, isn't it? I didn't actually find it that difficult to drive, either.

That's a lovely example. 😍 The chrome shines very nicely on this. I wouldn't mind a Toledo myself.

I prefer the Dolomites myself, but this was a pleasant little car to drive, and it is in extremely lovely condition, isn't it? Thank you again, sir!

That's a very nice Toledo Joseph I once bought a 1500 it was a non runner 1975 twin carbs I gave 30 pounds for it my dad towed it I drove it the fuel system was the problem the SUs were gummed as was the fuel pump I purchased a rebuild kit for both from D&B Carburettors and in a couple of days it was running passed the MOT and was on the road letting me get rid of the unreliable Viva thanks for doing the Toledo I remember seeing a lot of them back then best regards Andy Allen.

Sir, glad you enjoyed this Toledo! The 1500 TC similar in a way, as it was rear wheel drive, like the Toledo. Quite a bit faster and more luxurious, though. Glad to hear that it didn't cause too many issues after the fuel system was fixed!

My Grandad had an Identical one to this in pristine condition, my sister had it later as her daily drive.

Those exact doors mirrors were also made by Sedan, a company that offered quite a lot of accessories back in the day. Maybe the BL ones were also made by them.

Just about everything from BL or whatever it was calling itself in the day with those pull out and twist chokes came with the owner added extra - a clothes peg. I remember that into the 80's on Metro's lol

Yes, my 1980 Triumph Dolomite 1500 SE should have come with a clothes peg as well, as the choke would not stay out either!

Much cheapness and poverty spec next to the 1300 and TC front wheel drive models, it was really to replace the Herald , worked on them all in local dealership, even 1500 FWD didn,t have the 1300 and TC,s build quality , nice video :-)

The Triumph Toledo rival to the Ford Escort and Vauxhall Viva but had a wooden dashboard, there are only about 100 remaining in Britain today. An old man near me had an early brown two door J reg in the 1980s.hardly exciting.

Lovely colour. The forgotten small family car…everyone bought Escorts? Hence the more affordable price now. Just my opinion, it looks better in the short tail version. Stupid spending all that dev money going front to rear drive. Must have cost a fortune. One of the earliest cars I can remember seeing….I believe most were rusting in despair on the 2nd hand market by that point. Cars like Datsun and VW Golf were making their debut. Quick question…this is approx 58bhp…. So that is almost on a par with some modern cars like the poverty spec Peugeot 108, Skoda Citigo, ford ka… The old triumph is going to weigh less as well….better power to weight. How does real world performance compare?
@lloydvehicleconsulting20 сағат бұрын
It was quite lively. The Citigo I have driven with the same power output (around 58 bhp) did feel a bit slower, but it wouldn't be so bad for town use. They aren't actually that heavy, which helps, but I imagine the Toledo would be lighter still. Escorts would be more than one of these, I imagine. Thank you again, sir!
