Words can't describe what i felt about this interview. Maybe it's because of that need of a serious but funny, calm but intense, intellectual AND honest interview. No hypocrisy, no dumb comments, no superficial judgments, in short not a lebanese talkshow. It gave me hope that there are still lebanese intellectuals that can debate/discuss about serious issues. Unfortunately these figures are not in positions of social responsibility. I don't have the time (and don't make the effort) usually to sit and watch a full interview, but this is something i was thirsty for. Unfortunately Dan has stopped commenting on the lebenese situation, nshalla ma tkoun men wara 2min 7ekehoun bi nossel 7al2a🤐. We want more from both. Cheers

This is really good, his personal experiences is really important, and the way he explained the situation is very simple and good, the questions u ask is direct and the way u gave him time to speak without interruption, he is talking from the background of the roughest capitalism school but still his opinions is really so interesting, thank u jad keep going

Hi Jad, I am an expat in Australia... It is a good interview. I think there is a need to shed more light on how the state has been governed in Lebanon, financial and non financial affairs.... This is to diagnose the how have things happened in Lebanon since the civil war (or maybe before?), And discuss a model that "suits" (suits because we need to suggest something practical but aspirational and take the population on a journey to adopt it convincing them it is a better system than the one they have supported) Lebanon and its uniqueness (religious, history, politics), sell it to the people, create few easy win situations (electricity, internet, mobile, rubbish) with the help of expats and Lebanon's friends, and then seek to solidify the culture of meritocracy and accountability and giving these 2 concepts that highest regard in the psyche of the nation.

very nice interview jad. your views and conception on free market capitalism is very distorted though. for example assuming that in a capitalistic market a company will not care about their employee retention when they sell the company. whenever you would like I will be glad to share some ideas with you. socialism looks great on papers but never works in practice. the road to hell is paved with good intentions... keep up the good work

15:00 I share Dan Azzi's reservations on Lebanese (and Arab) left criticism of capitalism. The system they criticize is called crony capitalism. The only common feature crony capitalism shares with classical liberal capitalism is private property. Capitalism founded on free markets, independent justice, impartial administration should be what we seek, neither feudal crony capitalism nor inefficient statism.
