It was funny that I started a heart dot painting the day before I saw this video, I love the larger dots on the wider part of the heart and the smaller one on the point and V of the heart. I made mine perfectly even and it looked boring and too manufactured. I finished it and now I started a new one that I already love. Thanks to you. I always am so inspired by your ideas. Your work is much more imaginative than anybody's dot paintings that I have seen. You are so fast and precise too. Keep them coming, I love your videos.

This is one stress free project to experiment with. To the people who don’t have the tools, use Your imagination. Find the,center and I am about to paint a rock and for the tools um using a toothpick, a squere. a pencil, etc. you might have a magnet on the fridge that needs updating. Love this idea. Thank you.

Adorable, and beautiful Valentine's Day Gift! I never would have thought of using the magnets. I came across an idea at Dollar Tree this morning for the times when the little round pallets don't have a spot big enough for a large dotting tool. I spotted a deviled egg tray. I haven't tried it yet, but for a dollar I thought I'd see if it worked. Where would we be without the Dollar Tree?

Hi Lydia. Thank you for your informative videos. You said to let you know what other ideas would be useful. I want to make fridge magnet grocery list pads. Ie a rectangular wooden base onto which I glue a small notepad. I want to decorate the base all around the pad but havent found any designs I can use for this. I dont want to paint behind the pad as it might interfere with the glueing down of if. Could you make a video of it or maybe refer me to someone where I could get ideas on this. Thanks. Look forward to hearing from you. 💞 PS. Wish I knew how to post photos here of some of the dotting things I've made. 😉

Melanie my free-hand hearts are terrible so I cheated by making a template. First I created a nice heart on my computer, next I printed it out, then I glued it to some heavy card stock, then cut it out using a pair of scissors. Another thing you could do is trace around a cookie cutter. I hope these ideas help. Happy dotting!

Some will dry much darker than when they are wet. I like DecoArt Americana paints quite a bit. You could lighten what you have with some white and that may help.

okay; thanks for the reply. I don't' have time to search through your other videos at this time but I did a google and see amazon sells them for around $5 or $6.... There's a Michaels and also a Hobby Lobby in town and they probably have them. There's also a Sally's Beauty store and they may have something similar also. ANOTHER QUESTION: Can you do this with oils? or must it be acrylic. thanks ... have a great day.

When you come up with a design, is there a rule of thumb of how the dots are placed , or how you start a design and then follow in sequence with how you place the other dots? Does that make sense ? After i make my center point I'm not really too sure where to go from there , i usually just wing it , so I️ was wondering if you have any suggestions , maybe a tutorial ??? Ha ... thanks again
@LydiaMay
@LydiaMay 6 жыл бұрын
There is no rule of thumb. I usually go with 6, 8, or 16 for some reason. You're looking for symmetry. I recently got the suggestion to do a tutorial on this actually so maybe that can be my next video. I'll start on it stat!

Could you please tell me where to get the tool's to do this and what all will I need to have everything I will need to complete one's that you have done that I have saved. I also need to know what the tool's are called and where is the cheapest place for me to purchase them. I am disabled and on disability so not much left after pay my bills. But really want to start doing them before my hands give out from 2 kinds of arthritis. If you could give me a complete list of everything I will need what type of paint's are best to buy and if there's anything else that I will need I hope in time to be half as good as you are. I am sorry if you have posted what to use. I have been sick for last few months so just save your videos when they come up because I just haven't felt well enough to watch them. I about died 3 weeks ago God wasn't ready for me to go home yet.i live in a apartment above one of my daughters garage at 3:30 in the morning she had a panic attack and messaged me she was coming up. I was slumped over in my chair barely had a blood pressure thank goodness my angels and God got her up here in time to get me to the hospital. It was from a new medicine for migraines also helped you sleep better and sleep apnea. Thank goodness after 2 days in ICU I went home. Still alot wrong have fluid on my lung's and a enlarged heart and the sleep apnea to get figured out. I truly appreciate if you could let me know and sorry again if you have already said what all to use. I am going to get everything hopefully in February when I get paid again then start practicing on paper before I start on better stuff. So happy you told about getting the one's for this video at the dollar tree. My favorite store. I also do adult coloring and get some of my coloring book's there. Thank you for all you do for all of us. Giving your time to teach us how to do this awesome craft. Thanks again if you won't mind telling me where and what supplies I will need. Looking forward to start doing it myself. 😃

Hi Brenda! I'm sorry to hear about your current state. You are going to love dotting! It is such an awesome and rewarding practice. I started out getting Apple Barrel paints from Walmart which I still try to use in some videos, knowing it is more accessible to more people. However, to get the best bang for your buck, I suggest opting for the Multi-surface Apple Barrel acrylic paint because it has a better texture and richer color that can be thinned out with a few drops of water and works good for dotting. You can also pick up a multi pack of wooden dowels in the craft section at Walmart for about a buck that includes a few different sizes. If you see my most recent tutorial, kzbin.info/www/bejne/mJOTfZiGpcyjhK8 I show how I used only a cotton swab and a pencil and created a very pretty little mandala on another magnet from Dollar Tree, so you could just start with things from around the house! You can grab a hand full of some driveway pebbles to paint, or even keep empty sauce jars or bottles to paint, which wouldn't require spending extra. Also, if you could, email me. I might have a few things to help you get started- dottymandolly@gmail.com I truly hope you start on a journey of healing now. I surely will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. XOXO, Lydia

Hey Brenda! Bless your heart, Sweetie, that must have been so terrifying for you AND for your daughter. I'm sure I speak for us all here when I say that we are so glad you pulled through & are back at home. I, too, am in kinda the same boat as you. I have many health issues, am disabled, on a limited income, & am pretty much bed-ridden. Thank goodness I have a creative streak & lots of interests to occupy my mind & my hands, even if the rest of my body ain't able. Keep following Lydia, she's sooo inspirational. Before you know it, you'll be creating beautiful pieces of art too, which, by the way, make wonderful gifts...gifts that will outlast us both & hopefully be passed down through the generations. Good luck to you Brenda & happy dotting!
