Its crazy how ive been telling smashers that ROB has been top tier since day 1 and it really took this community three years to realize ROB is a damn menace He's actually been *nerfed* and hes still a top 5-7 character. If the ADHD smash community would get over its horrible "big/slow = bad" bias (like... Smash is literally the only fighting game whos community cries about time-outs...) then they could properly judge characters Unlike Melee, Smash Ultimate is an actual fully fleshed out fighting game and as such one must take an entire characters moveset + game mechanics into play when judging them. Thats why i switched to Byleth day 1 on their release. Contolling space in actual fighting games is much more important than simply being able to run forward an mash buttons. ROB and Byleth are two of the best space-controllers in the game so when combined with their recovery and edgeguarding, both are clearly top tier ROB better tho hes friggen silly

Rob has alot of things going for him besides being slow, generally being smash is almost always a weakness especially in ultimate

Mate R.O.B. wasn't ever really nerfed. Maybe removing the robble could be considered one. I can't think of any other nerfs that weren't universal

@@sagegang6957 being slow is always a weakness in pretty much everything thats the point of balancing. As an FGC guy, i was trying to get smashers to understand that a character is more than 1 trait they are a sum total of all their traits + game mechanics. Slow characters always have their win conditions just like fast characters always have their fatal flaw. It all equals out Smash Ultimate, unlike Melee, give every slow character tools for to succeed. In ultimate, Parrying, slower game speed, recover/ledge options and MUCH better defensive mechanics help out big bodies as opposed to Melee where the game itself just isnt well designed as a balanced fighter

@@davidc. Well assuming you are right (youre not), my statement is still 100% true as that factually counts as a nerf But to list the nerfs ROB had in his lifetime: 1. Removed instant Gyro Cancelling. 2. Robo Beam deals less shield damage 3. Gyro deals less shield damage 4. Neutral attack 1's 180° hitbox has less base knockback (40 → 23) and hitstun, no longer being able to lead into a down tilt loop. Hes gotten a couple buffs as well but overall he is a weaker character now than he ever was and is STILL top tier
