Beautiful locomotive model. Filled me full of nostalgia for my first Coronation cop at the tender age of 12 in Glasgow. The Polmadie locos were local heroes to the local spotters. Names like Princess Alice, Princess Alexandra, Duchesses of Atholl, Montrose and Buccleuch roll off the tongue, even now. The model even has the correct 66A shedplate on the smoke box door, amazing! Thanks so much for a very enjoyable "run". From Ken in Ayrshire.

Wonderful! Reminds me of the miniature railway Locomotives that used to run at Bridlington Spa in the 60s. Thank you for sharing!

Hi Philip Hearn, thank you for your kind comment. The locomotive is German engineering at it's best!!!!

@@ukmodelengineering Hi, its rather nice that the builder chose a British locomotive to build. As a fan of both German and British steam locomotives I wonder if the builder made other fine builds?I'd love to see something German to that build quality. RIP to the builder, he left a fine remembrance.

An excellent video of a superb model, 46222 was the first of the Princess Coronation Class that I saw in Perth Shed in the early 1960s

Stunning. One of the best models of a Duchess that I have ever seen. Couldn't see any evidence of inside cylinders, am I right?
@ukmodelengineering5 жыл бұрын
Hi Tim Spiers, you are not right :-) This is a full 4 cylinder locomotive built to the Jim Vass which have been scaled down from works drawings. Thanks for watching.
@timspiers62255 жыл бұрын
Fantastic, even better then.
@984francis5 жыл бұрын
Even the Aster Gauge 1 Castle and Duchess have all 4 cylinders. Actually 4 of their models are full 4 cylinder compounds with true compound expansion so why wouldn't a 7 1/4" Duchess have all four cylinders? Lovely loco, more than a model!
@timspiers62255 жыл бұрын
@@984francis A good many large scale models of multi cylinder steam locos only have two cylinders. Normally for ease off modelling or maintenance. Sometimes it can be because four cylinders may be too powerful and lead to excessive slipping.

What a little beauty. Such a quiet loco too! Out of interest, how much does she weigh?
@ukmodelengineering4 жыл бұрын
She is a cracking locomotive. The dry weight is around 600kg.

LMS4767 thanks for that. Much lighter than I was expecting. I was guessing at a ton upwards.

Gorgeous loco and the Supreme LMS loco. Love the super detailed prototypical backhead on the footplate just like the real thing !! Now either that line is too flat or that loco needs a train load of super fat guys on it cause this Duchess isn't working or even needing to try to work on that railway 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😁😁😁

After witnessing several derailments on a 5 inch track I prefer 7 1/4 as it is more stable. Currently making a 7 1/4in Peckett style tank.

Dear LMS4767, my family and I have been watching your films with great interest and enthusiasm. You are promoting the hobby very well and its great for fellow enthusiasts such as myself to see whats going on in the UK with live steam, Well done you!. One question i have as a model engineer building a 7.25" Highlander, what is the best 7.25" track in the UK in your opinion?
@ukmodelengineering4 жыл бұрын
@MLW thank you for your kind comment. That is a very difficult question, but two I enjoy visiting are Echills Wood Railway and Great Cockcrow Railway. Hope to see your Highlander running sometime in the future.
