Hi, thanks for the video, excuse my ignorance but what is the purpose of these Eco Hubs, seems like a weaker version of the original, especially without the "half moons' machined into the flange

Basically they make the trucks more drivable for everyday use. Similar to “highway gears” for a fraction of the price and doable for the shade tree mechanic. They lower the rpm’s of the engine and driveline, increases fuel economy, allows you to better keep up with traffic… They do reduce the torque to the wheels but so far I haven’t noticed any problems with power. My zero to 50 time went down about 6 seconds. For reference, I have the A0.

Are the rear Ecohubs install different ?

@@BERZERKERSV4 they are a bit different but not by much. The rear has a snap ring on the axle that needs to be ground down to fit in the eco hub and you have to basically drain the rear differential so oil isn’t flowing into the hubs while the gasket maker is curing

Just clean the surfaces really well. Any oils will cause the gasket maker leak.

It a much more enjoyable drive. It’s quieter and I can keep up with traffic now. I can definitely feel the loss of torque but so far it hasn’t been a problem. I haven’t been off road with it or hauled anything yet.

what about the hub fluid?? I'm guessing that doesn't need to be refilled?

It does need refilled. The fluid in the hub is what lubricates the outer bearing. Fill it the same as the factory hub.

Did you do all four tires ,or just two? Let me know how they work when turning.

You have to do all the axles otherwise you will have 3.90 ratio on the eco hub and 7.80 on the factory set up.

What about the snap ring on the end of the axle shaft?

This video was on the front and there aren’t any snap rings. The rear does have them and the need to be filed/ground down a bit where the snap ring pliers go in to fit into the eco hub.
