This Dynamometer is exclusive from Rails of Sheffield and is made by Rapido trains, and the detail is fantastic. with 121 components put into this model, I can not fault quality of this model. have a look and see what you think... enjoy

Hi Glynn. the Dynamometer car is made by Rapido models. you are right to say its not a hornby model. the quality of this model is superb, i think rails have still got some left. it would great behind a blue garter mallard..................for the speed record....best wishes Tony

That's quite something Tony and I'm talking about the whole train! 6 top flight coaches a beautiful fully functional loco and the highly detailed car, well what can one say? Stunning. I believe the wand is to turn the lights on and off. Thanks for showing it off. Cheers Jerry

hi Jerry Buddy. this Trian will stay together as a whole Trian. except for that day when a Blue Mallard arrives. maybe next year....need to put in some overtime at work, lol. your right about the wand. I was having one of those moments when some the instructions got missed, as I was only interested in reading the history about the coach. which was fascinating in itself. thank you for taking the time to comment as always cheer's Tony

A beautiful model. The plastic wand with the magnet is used for turning on/off interior lighting. Hold over roof as there is a latching reed switch inside. So one side of the magnet turns them on and the other side turns the lights off. The incredibly high standard of model certainly reflects the price. As you said, well worth it. Enjoy.

Hi Andy. interesting comment about witnessing the sample model. I wonder where that one is now, it is impressive Model. the survey work on the original at York must have taken weeks, photographing and measuring all the components to get every detail spot on. I would love that job....have a great weekend ...Tony

A very nice coach , but i bit too pricey for me. This is the first time i have had a look at your layout and I must is is amazing. I would like to know how you painted the station canopy. I guess it is a hornby one? I want to do the same. I do not have an Airbrush, but I do know someone who has. Martin (Thailand)
@TONYNORTHEASTERN
@TONYNORTHEASTERN 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Martin, Thank you for taking the time to comment, the paint work on the canopy was done with a brush before assembling the canopy, same with the uprights all painted before assembly and just touching up the paint once it was all glued together. I have a air brush, but I have never used it, all the best Tony

Hi Trouble. its no trouble Adi contacting me, buddy. let me tell you something, the carriage would grace any layout my friend. Yours skills lay elsewhere. I don't think I would have the patience to do what you do, you are a very dedicated person when it comes to Railway topics and history in general. and that is why I admire what you do. you have watching the video 4 times, you must know more about the carriage than me now. take care. very best wishes Tony...…..

It's a stunning model alright but I might question some of the underframe fittings, such as the suspension of the battery boxes and odd position of the dynamo. The livery puzzles me too, notably the widespread application of what looks like claret. Can anybody explain that? And the absence of lining, which the LNER applied. After WWII when it was given a BR number, the simulated teak finish was retained but the lining was dropped (I have seen a clear picture of this condition in 1950, possibly returning from the SR and use with the Bulleids...).
@TONYNORTHEASTERN
@TONYNORTHEASTERN 6 жыл бұрын
thank you for taking the time to comment, I have looked at the National Railway Museum Website and searched through the photos of NER Dynometer car and there is no lining as say on the car just the lettering. as for the dynamo that is lowered onto the track when they need to take the speed measurements I guess. but I do like a comment that makes me think and do a little research. thank you again best wishes Tony
@nigeljohnson8022
@nigeljohnson8022 6 жыл бұрын
The claret you mention is in fact teak the same as what is applied to Gresley teak under frames. I have one of these in this guise and the video does not do it justice. The dynamometer car was never lined in LNER imitation teak livery so this is quite correct.
@TONYNORTHEASTERN
@TONYNORTHEASTERN 6 жыл бұрын
Nige Johnson thank you for commenting. You are correct with your views on your previous comment. The detail is a carbon copy of the original that sits in the museum. Cheers Tony

I think I might be alone in my opinion but making the centre section a separate moulding and an obvious join where there shouldn’t be one spoils the whole look of the coach, especially when paying £125 for it

its not a 'diameter' car ... it is a dynamometer car - if you say the words ...... Diner Mom Eater and practice you'll get it right and it may help your spelling too. Sorry to correct you but please take this advice in the spirit it is intended, and you may well have worked it out over the last 4 years anyway. Dynamo-Meter would be the other way to break down the syllables and true to the meaning of the word as well, I suspect that is how they invented it.
