Well, bugger me with a fish fork! I have heard the whole Henry I-Henry II thing before, but I personally put the whole Theseus' Ship aside and say they are the same engine. After all, Henry still has his former memories retained, and his personality.

@@LNER4771 you do have a point. My guess is that some parts which were interchangeable from Henry 1 were put into Henry 2 who is based off an LMS Black Five (which being a real locomotive class meant Awdry was forcing Dalby to draw Henry as this class of locomotive from now on)

Christopher Awdry has since clarified that it is still the same engine but came back “a different engine” because all his problems were solved. That is the most current and recent story

That’s actually fake. The whole “Henry MK1 and MK2” thing isn’t just stating when he was rebuilt. MK1 AND MK2 ARE THE SAME ENGINE

Yeah, but it was edited out in later editions. Not that the Reverend was a racist, it was just a common slang term back before the Civil Rights movement.
