LNR MTR4B Audio Splatter

Is it just me or has anyone else encountered audio pops and splatter on the LNR MTR4B. I tried switching to different radios - an Elecraft K1 and an Elecraft KX2 and these other radios don't exheibit any splatter at all in the audio circuit. You be the judge.

Hi Ariel. I get that on my LNR units too. It is interference from the phone.

I use my phone for logging and to control the GoPro. Thanks for that info. The K1 and the KX2 does a better job of filtering it.

@@CaptainRadioAdventures Arranging the associated wiring differently may avoid it. Sometimes moving my phone just a few inches clears it up.

I had the same issue at W4G/NG-001 and an MTR3b. I thought it was an issue with my inline voice recorder. I was straddling a bench and had everything in front of me. I picked up the phone and dropped it as a call came in. No popping! I put the phone behind me and everything worked great the rest of the day. Reminded me of the popping that I'd hear in my home PC speakers when the phone would ring after thinking about it on the way home.

@@CaptainRadioAdventures I use an aviation knee board for SOTA. Since there are no park benches or convenient places to set up I find it easier to paper log and then use FLE to transcribe to electronic.

It sounds like your cell phone Interference

It’s definitely the power supply/txer of your phone right next to the antenna input and the speaker. It will only happen when the phone is working/transmitting.

I get the same popping on my QCX, TenTec 40-20 and a couple of other QRP radios. Occasionally on my K1 as well. Never really figured it out

I think what you hear is the processor either in the radio or in your phone. It is RFI injected into the speaker. For kicks, try earbuds and see if you hear the same clicks.

All my QRP rigs pick up the pops from my phone but I haven't tested the K1

Yeah I have to keep my phone away from my kx3 or I get interference.
