If your going to drive it around with the 4 banger, don't fill the radiator to the top, because it will overheat, just fill it about 1.5 inch down from the top. Cool car.... this should be fun.

Really cool find, my grandfather emigrated to the US and worked in the Ford plant in Detroit just before your car was made. He was a cabinet maker / woodworker. Seeing all the interior wood on your car, it all makes sense now. He moved back to Scotland when the depression hit.

I’ve been watching your videos for a while now. It’s amazing seeing you transition from choppers to hot rods. And you’re doing at the exact same time as me. Lol I just picked up a 31 and can’t wait to get going on it. Oh and hey, you should name the car “The Muncle” 👍🏻

My First time in the US, back in 2015, My first destination was Burbank, to see Hollywood Hot Rods. Right next door was Old Crow Speed Shop. Some really cool stuff on both. Wish I could come and visit again. That was the only time I came really close to those kinds of machines. The stuff I was only able to see on Magazines and Discovery Channel. More Power! Alway looking forward to your videos.

So far its a 28 pickup, building custom chassis and flat bed for it ill be running my high compression build rb30 carby because the came out in a 4x4 here with factory carburettor but ill be running a 480cfm holley and hopefully i can sort out a custom supercharger setup for it then run that through a 4spd full manual automatic to a ford 9 inch diff.

Sure is nice for an unrestored A. To me it seems that the leatherback coupe would make more sense as a restored car or something close to restored. A 30-31 would be easier to make into a hot rod as you would have less wood in the top and none of the leatherback stuff to figure out. If you are interested in the traditional old school flathead V8 hot rods there is a book called "Building a Traditional Ford Hot Rod" by Mike Bishop and Vern Tardel that would be helpful if you are not familiar with old Ford parts and interchangeability. Even if you decide to go the Chevy v8 route there are probably some useful ideas to be found in this book.

I believe the old coupes were cut into making them a pickup truck because of gas rationing laws at the time. Pickup trucks would get more gas. I just bought myself a 1930 Model A like 3 years ago and did a little research on them. Mine is way worse than this one. My engine and trans are both locked up plus broken glass and no interior. But I finally got one.

A lot of cars were converted to trucks during World War II because of gas rationing. It was more often permitted to get fuel if you had a pick up truck rather than a car.
