They did EVERYTHING they possibly could to make Russell successful. Jamarcus sat out/missed ALL of his rookie season training camp because of a contract dispute and didn't sign with the team until WEEK 2! He was so far behind, got ZERO reps with his wide receivers until halfway through SEPTEMBER, didn't get ANY reps or play in ANY preseason games meaning he got ZERO Opportunity to adjust to the speed of the NFL, and then REFUSED to put ANY effort into even learning the playbook (see the famous blank tapes incident.) Jamarcus also refused to work out, being incredibly out of shape and put in a TON of bad weight. I think Matthew stafford has the weirdest career in NFL history. He has hall of fame numbers but was never a star in the league. He's only been to the pro bowl once as an alternate after Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson turned down the invite. That means he's the only QB in nfl history with more 40 TD seasons than pro bowls and more There's only 7 qbs in nfl history who have thrown for multiple 40 td seasons and they're all hall of famers or future Hall of famers. It's the usual suspects. Peyton, Drew, Aaron, Tom, Patrick, Dan and the there's Matthew stafford who I don't think gets in Canton. No matter what he does.
