Check out my new beat making channel ‪@spvidz‬
In this video I've tried to show a bit more of my process I currently use for making a beat. There isn't much resampling in this, mainly chopping.
Hope you find it useful. If you have any questions leave a comment and I'll try and answer.

I think the original musician would be honored that their music would be combed though with such care. Great Job

Just personal preference really. I'd rather use the built in effects to change the sound of the samples!

You can record directly into it via RCA. You need to go through an amp first though.

I was just wondering if I could get an opinion here. I have a record player, but it cant be setup to hook up to my computer. I have a snowball mic though, would it be okay to just record off the mic or should I buy a new player? I was thinking recording off the mic might actually give it a nice static sound naturally.

Hey thanks for the commenet! You could try but I think you would struggle to get a good signal. Why not just invest in a USB RCA adapter? they are really cheap. Here's the one I use - amzn.to/2jvCHMt

There are a lot of tutorials on youtube on the sp-404sx. Took me about 2 days to know know the basic functions. This unit is more about how u get used to using it. When u know how to use it, the journey has jsut begun. With every tutorial video I watch and every beat I make on it I get atleast one "wow"effect because I discoverd something different

Buy random cheap vinyls and spend countless hours listening through them. Its just luck in most cases. Sometimes I get a few sometimes none. Look in bargain bins in vinyl shops or in charity/thrift stores

get an audio interface, that'll connect your turntable to your laptop, and pretty much anything else for that matter

Just get a double ended aux cord and plug it into the headphone jack of the turntable then into the mic jack of the comp. Instant hook up for sampling records. Or use a a/v to headphone converter cable and plug it into the speakers output then the aux side into the comp mic jack.

Tom Durkin when i change the tempo the quality goes awful, can you make a tutorial on changing tempo and maybe pitch?
@TomDurkin1987
@TomDurkin1987 7 жыл бұрын
Yeah mate, i'll do something on my sp chaanel, subscribe to kzbin.info - don't forget you can change the speed of the vinyl if you have a good deck. I have pitch on mine which means I can slow it down or speed it up, then you can also run an LP on 45 speed to speed it up - you loose a lot of bass though :)

I would say only get an SP404 if you like lo-fi sounding beats, that's where its strength is. The MPC is more of a 'serious' beat making machine IMO.
