@ArtsunMusic6 жыл бұрын
This is loop-based music. Try to train your ear with active listening to understand what it’s made of: you could for example identify the beginning and the end of a specific loop, and then deconstruct it by listing all the different layers that compose it. Once you’ll have done this for several loops, you’ll have a better idea of the generic ingredients. Then you could try to identify the techniques used to transition from one loop to another, and the global characteristics of the track. Remember to do this with several different artists as each one has its own style and techniques and you don’t wanna be a copycat. In the meantime, get your hands on a DAW (any of them is good nowadays, Ableton or Bitwig are more appropriate for live loop based music performance) and start learning it as much as you can. Manual is essential but learning by doing is the most dynamic way to progress: Get things done. Build something, finish it, learn from your mistakes and be proud of what you like in it, move on and start again. Those would be my 2 cents advices to start making music. Most important: remember to always have fun! It’s the journey that matters!

Here my +1 Calico.. added as favorite as well. Love this music. Tell us about your setup and how you recorded it; are sound just op-1 patches or there's something else in this delicious recipe?
@Calicolive6 жыл бұрын
90% of the sounds you are hearing are coming from the OP-1. The rest are coming from Ableton which is being triggered by the Akai LPD8. I am sending the audio from the Op-1 into Ableton where i am filtering, adding reverb, and delay. I plan on doing another video where I explain how everything is set up!
@Systempuntoout6 жыл бұрын
Calico great sound, listened 5/6 times. I love when bass triggers at 11:58 and 14:20 . You should explain how to get that deep bass sound, you can feel it from the belly; I am struggling to get them from my Op-1.Also, that wobbling sound starting on the third track and recurring in the last one is terrific. Would love to see the process explained.
@Calicolive6 жыл бұрын
For that particular part I used the OP-1s FM Synth. Pick the Big Bottom preset and then turn your blue knob all the way to the left and that should give you a nice thick sine bass. I then assigned the attack envelope to the LFO to create a side chain effect. Hope this helps :)
@GiriGagan6 жыл бұрын

i will get a op-1 soon is there a possibility you could explain how to get that sound you are hearing on the end? I have a lot of experience with the op-Z ut not with this one and it seems so sim with only 4 tracks recording an you can save nothing right? I also have an MPC1000 and want to use them together with a USB MIDI hub or something? or iConnecivity? I Also saw this mixer: makerhart.com/product_d.php?lang=en&tb=1&id=465 Can the Op-1 send bluetooth information just as the Op-Z? I hope I will get the craz music as you are doing from the Op-1. Mch respect, the last one is so dreamy and the first beats are so punchy. Respect.
@Calicolive4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! With the Op-1 you get 4 tracks separate tracks and you record similar to using a 4 track tape machine. I am not familiar with the OP-Z so it is hard to compare. i know for sure the OP-1 does not send any bluetooth information. would you be able to specify which sound at the end you are referring to? ill try my best to explain

Hey Liam congrats on the OP1 you're gonna love it! I imported a lot of sounds into the OP1 from my sample library. That's the beauty of the op1, you can turn any sound into a synth preset or create a drum kit with them. Thanks for watching the vid :)
@5lanediver5 жыл бұрын
Could you possibly post a tutorial? You OP1 house videos are the best I have seen/heard, and I have been trying to get the lofi sound and not doing great. Like a vid that goes through you making drum and chord loop (did you use a sequencer?, what chord patch is that). The samples are great, but that you can't help with that much. And then any tips and tricks for performing on the OP1. Love this vid
