I'm looking to get into longboarding, but I don't know whether to get a topmounted or a dropthrough board. I think dropthrough might be easier to get into cause I imagine it feels more steady since it's closer to the ground, but I wanna hear some experienced people's opinions on this. What should I go for?

A drop-thru board is a good starting point if you're thinking of getting into longboarding. Drop-thru boards ride lower than top mounts, making them easier to push over long distances. They also have a rather unique feel to the turn, more of a swinging feeling than topmounts. Topmount boards are a bit more versatile for different kinds of riding. Being top mount, you're able to utilize more of the top of the deck since you don't have baseplates or wheel cut-outs getting in the way of where your feet might go. Topmounts of course have a much higher ride height and may not be as fun to push long distances. Basically it boils down to this: Do you wanna ride low, push far, and feel like youre snowboarding in the streets? Drop thru would be fun. Do you want to buy one board and eventually get into more styles of skating, with maximum amount of deck space? Topmount would be proper. Of course, it also comes down to personal preference. Try both out and see what you like! Hope this helps!

Definitely helps! Thank you so much for the detailed answer! I think I will get a drop-thru carver since Denmark, where I live, is very flat. The Icarus it is! Downhill looks badass though. Maybe some day in the future I can move to somewhere more suited for downhill skating :D

I've seen you ride the Longboard Larry DK Penguin a few times. Do you think the drop of that deck would make this harder to perform, and if so, any adjustments to make it easier.

That deck would actually be alright for this trick! Mainly because the the DKP has a solid kick tail and enough space where the trucks are mounted to get a good amount of grip and twisting action! Be sure to aim for the sweet flat spot between the drop and the up turn of the kick tail. That is where the magic happens!

I have a question, I still haven't own a Loaded Tesseract and I've been saving up my money just to buy that board. Back to my question, I'm using a Comet Grease Hammer, is it possible to do that "The Run Starter" trick with the Comet Grease Hammer? Please no hateful comments.

Totally 100% can do it on the Grease Hammer! Just aim your foot to land right on top of the bolts and you'll be good! Also, probably best to do it on the tail than the nose, since there is more width in the tail, providing better grip.

Actually, i ride for Caliber Trucks and have no helmet sponsor. S1 is a local company and we had the helmet sitting around the office so i used it, same case with the Bear's. They were fun and worked, but they weren't what i'm exactly used to. -ethan
