They over exaggerated it because flexible board. When you turn on toe side, try pushing down on front foot ball of foot, when turn on heel side, push down on back heel a little bit while front foot is used as pivot point. If that makes kinda makes sense. It's basically pre carving before slide while downhill freeride. It does take very much effort, fun once figured out. It's hard carving where the power loaded into the carve will transfer into momentum.
@jescollo Жыл бұрын
I guaranteed if you learned how to do you wouldn’t feel like it’s too aggressive. It’s just another skill that locks you into the groove with your board. It’s fun. You will not regret learning how to do it

How to pump 101. Step one: buy a decent pumper, no symmetrical twin tip shit. If you are on budget, you chop the nose of a vanguard and put your fronttruck underneath your front foot. If you own a droptrough board, chop it into a platform (like the loaded phantom prototype) and buy some brackets. Step two: buy a bennett vector 5" truck to put in front. Step three: buy a tracker rts or randal 125mm truck. Step four: play around with some bushing combo's and wedging/dewedging your trucks. Step 5: enjoy the ride! To gain and maintain speed, you should force your fronttruck in it's turn. (Remember how you could propel yourself on rollerskates by pushing your legs to the sides while staying in contact with the ground? Well that is the science of pumping) . You could use your bodyweight to gain some extra momentum as shown in the video.

Dude, symmetrical boards with this much flex and wide 180mm trucks suck. Yes they are pumpable, but no way they reach the same efficiency and top speed as a proper bracket setup or topmount pumper with proper trucks! Although I know a few people who chopped the nose of their vanguard and have put a proper truck underneath their front foot.

I second this, especially if your board is barely pump able with high effort half the time anyways. Even if the road is barely wet enough to be slightly darker in a spot, you can quite easily slide out on a bigger swing

@rsnsteamroller4 жыл бұрын
what confused me: - this is not the (only) way to pump on a long distance pumping setup (think gbomb bracket setup where your back trucks barely turn). doing a horizontal only wiggle totally works on a dedicated LDP setup at certain speeds, and the technique in this video is a bit energy inefficient in comparison to your other options on an LDP setup this video is absolutely the correct thing to do on an Icarus, Vanguard, etc - a flexy board whose deck is strictly above the wheels (no drop) for a stiffer board, like a carver (surfskate) or slalom setup, maybe this works in a modified way - pushing away from your body with your legs does seem to add power, but I’m not good enough at it to figure it out competely.

if your board has a kicktail should the back foot be placed on the tail, on top of the rear trucks, or in front of the rear trucks?
@LoadedBoards3 жыл бұрын
You can do either. Typically, having you back foot on the tail allows you to pump deeper at slower speeds, but it pretty unstable at higher speeds. IF you keep your feet within the trucks, it is the opposite effect. You also could start pumping with your foot on the tail to build up some speed and then transition to feet in between the trucks to maintain a higher speed.

I just bought a Subsonic Pulse 40 board. It's a long distance pumping board. I've been riding longboard for a while and now would like to get more into long distance push/pumping. I got Paris 180mm 50 degree trucks, Otang 83a 72mm wheels and Zealous bearings. Should I get some wedges for my risers? If so, what degree? Should I get some 42 degree baseplates to get my board (my board is a topmount) lower or will the 50 degree be fine? I will experiment for myself of course, but thought I'd ask for some expert advise. Thanks!
@LoadedBoards6 жыл бұрын
You can definitely use some wedge risers to adjust the angles of your trucks to better suit your style of skating. a 42 degree baseplate in the back, and a 50 degree baseplate up front will create a very solid downhill setup, as well as an effective pumping setup (depending on your bushings). You could grab a new baseplate, but to save money, wedge risers will do just fine, as well as add a bit of dampening to your ride. Try heavily de-wedging the back trucks, while wedging up the front truck a bit. Getting a severely split angle setup will give you an absolute pumping machine! We do no suggest wedging your front truck beyond 55 degrees. Make sure to get some squishy and soft bushings too!
@miguelangelaldrete31356 жыл бұрын
Hello Seth, angled risers would help a lot. Get your front truck on a higher degree angle and your back truck on a lower degree angle, that way you get more turn from the front and less on the back and that helps drive the pump. I don't have the Subsonic pulse but I ride the Century and my setup is a 0 degree angle truck on the back and about a 60 degree in the front. Also keep your bushings soft enough so you can properly use the full turn of the angles. Hope that helped, hope to see you on some long distance events.
