Not too bad at all... Keep stretching out when emptying bucket and returning over side of truck. (Position truck a little further if needed) That way you can, 1) empty your bucket at the same rate with less crowd-out function required meaning you can begin the return swing earlier knowing the diet will spill out faster as you extend the stick, 2) complete a larger portion of the boom lowering process and can complete the lowering with the stick, if timed correctly (and bench set up is near optimal) you can complete the lowering process before completing the slew process as well as already have hydraulic pressure available in the dipper arm cylinder circuit. NB: Hitachi's don't have closed Hydraulic slew/swing circuits so lowering with the dipper arm bypass valves saves your hydraulic oil flow capacity for the swing circuit. Note: If bench set up is not quite optimal, when double-benching or loading from the floor, (too low / excessive stand-off) you can counter act the additional time required to begin the return swing with an extended dipper arm by employing one of several strategies available to cause the Excavator to lean forward very slightly. When single benching an option is to lean the digger slightly 'in' (away from bench crest) by placing a small amount of material along the path where the 'outer' (track closest to bench crest) will travel. *This is effective at countering the extra force/time required to return to the dig face with extended arm BUT it is not as ideal as leaning forwarfs and extra caution is required as the application of slew brake and/or counter slewing must be more precisely timed to allow for the diggers swing movement to come to a complete rest before engaging the dig face. (The digger wants to swing all the way around to its 3'oclock position before gravity is on its side again, instead of the 12'oclock position which leaning forwards position introduces as it's preferred point of rest.) But unless you can smoothly implement this process, the gains are negligible on an hour by hour basis. Its only when maintained effectively over the course of an entire day/week will it be advantageous. Ie:if it takes too much effort to maintain, mental exhaustion will cause the operator to execute the process poorly as well as execute the other loading cycle processes poorly, resulting in negative gains.... But once the operator can develop the motor skills and muscle memory to make this more refined process practically effortless. Then the production of the equipment will not only go up, the mental exertion required on the operator will actually be reduced. Allowing them to turn thier focus towards other aspects of the loading/mining operation.
