For those that don't do much model building, the key ingredient in that type of model "cement" is a solvent called Methyl Ethyl Ketone, or Butanone. Rather than acting like glues, which fill in the space and act as a bonding fill between the parts, what that does is partially melt the parts and functionally weld them together, then as it evaporates away the plastic resets to solid.
