I know the struggle i’m deadheading from Colorado to Riverside Ca. Start fresh Monday morning after spending the weekend with the family. Two loads for the week $6500 for 1400miles plus the 900 deadhead comes to 2300 miles still averaged $2.82 a mile. Sometimes it’s worth it. All the truck stops in Colorado full of trucks with a bunch of sad faces about to sit for the weekend and start on Monday with cheap heavy freight coming out of Colorado. 😢

I heard that Vice President Kamala is going to change everything if you vote for her 😂. I personally think you guys need to just open up a shop and start fixing everyone else’s broken shit . I would certainly come to you . As a now 40 year retired ASE master tech . Like you I took pride in my work and treated all my customers like family. I had people drive 6 hours for repairs and service. It was hard work but it provided a wonderful life for me and my family. I still have a shop and I still take care of a few old customers and definitely my family. Stay safe guys .

I have two customers I pull out of for my outbound. One pays above average rates, the other pays okay. I have to broker my freight back and whatever they have it listed for, I double it in my offer at a minimum. When they counter offer and its not near my offer, I raise my offer. About 30% of the time, I get my rate.

That’s the part of trucking I use to hate. Work your butt off then hurry up and wait, and wait, and wait. I was a company driver and it was bad enough. They are reasons why some loads don’t pay and it has nothing to do with greed by a load broker or trucking company. Sometimes there’s a problem between supplier and manufacturers ending up some loads are make up loads. Then the trucker ends up with the short end. Saying you know the loads pays more and actually proving it is another story. Facts are facts and anything else is just a guessing game. Glad I don’t own a truck. I work for a guy that has 66 trucks on the road. I am learning to be a planner. Boy how things have changed over the years. I always say trucking is it’s worst enemy. Sorry to hear your running home M/T. Have a great and a safe day. Happy trails to you,D…

Martin also keep in mind this election year right now things aren't looking good for owner operators but the shippers and receivers are are banking the big bucks passing the cost of everything on to the consumers I'm glad I retired 25yrs ago I down see how you guys are doing it take it in my time things got tight when diesel when from 99cents gal. To $1.50 over night then government deregulated all freight that's when the brokers took advantage of owner operators where just living in different times if you don't have freight customers of your own it's a crap shoot. Hang in there thankfully all your equipment is paid for just think of those that have a $3,000. Too $4,000. A month truck payment. Good to see you and Alice are happy in Wisconsin

As someone who watches both channels, I gotta tip my hat to anyone who sees an opportunity and makes it happen. Home of the brave, land of the free or something like that. As far as over capacity, I too was one of the ones who watched JT’s channel, the great American freight race and many others. I quit my job and dove head first into trucking….I was gonna make 10 grand a week, be my own boss…hell to the yeah. I jumped into trucking like ALOT of other people and did 2 years lease purchase working towards getting my own truck. The whole industry started to tank shortly after I got in….Of course it did. Luckily I was able to jump out of the lease fairly easily and go back to my previous 9-5 job. Just makes you wonder how many more truckers are out there that thought the same thing…the covid or post covid new truckers flooding the market trying to make the big bucks. Well, hopefully the capacity goes back to where it was and you guys can start making decent money again. Also of all the places out there, Wisconsin was a really nice area. Green Bay, or Steven’s point, you can’t really go wrong anywhere in Wisconsin. I do miss the Kwik trips!
@TruckingTogether3 ай бұрын
Terry not trying to be mean but you should’ve watched my video when I said it’s not sustainable and what JT does is not a way of making a living in trucking. The man makes a living trucking for KZbin, the loads pay his expenses but he makes money elsewhere, ain’t nothing wrong with that. I’m not sure if he quit portraying that in his videos to the viewing audience but I don’t really watch much of his stuff, I think he’s changed alot and maybe quit doing that. It’s why he got mad at me but I never meant to poke any fun at the ole boy till he decided to shit talk my wife do to a misunderstanding on his (their) part. Anyway trucking has always been a roller coaster, most people who thought it was the new “norm” are gone, and I don’t mean yourself but I mean people and KZbinrs I know. Trucking isn’t for everyone, it’s a fucking lonely profession that wrecks lives, marriages and bank accounts. You gotta have a strong woman behind you at all times and the work/hustle ethic of a crackhead. This is mainly why everything we have is paid for, trucks, trailer, etc. will not get into a payment unless I know I’m going to get ahead. 22 years in this with my own personal experience and all my life growing up in it, do not ever bank on making it. When you make money, save it, because you’re gonna need it.
