Was reminded of this song today and had to come find it, cause thru the years, my album disappeared!!!! Phenomenal is phenomenal, even thru space and time. Wish he hadnt lost his life so young. Can't begin to imagine what would have been!! First time I saw the Allman Brothers, they were just taking off. Tickets to their concert was my 21 St birthday present. Small small venue in a little country town in Ky. MAYBE, 100 people. There wasn't even anyone there to take our tickets. Walked right down to the front row, which was maybe 5 feet from the stage and listened to them slap tear it up!! Didn't matter to them that there was only a handful of us, they played for about an hour, walked back to the corner of the stage, had some " refreshments" ha, ha, along with us, got back up played some more, took another toke, then played some more!!! It was unbelievable!! Prob around 3 hours! The following year, they were playing to sold out arenas!!!!! Love you, Duane, Gregg and Barry and Butch!!! R.I.P.

The one and only Brother Duane Allman. His guitar perfectly expresses the deep blues in Boz's lyrics. I've never heard it done better.

Unbelievable how good this is. The emotional conveyance of 'Loan Me a Dime' coupled with one of the best outro solos in the history of music make this a song for the ages.

One of the all time great performances. Boz and Duane deserve the praise they've received for this cut, but the Memphis Horns and Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section lift this up another notch. They're fantastic.

Such an elaborate jam that hauls down everything that's done before. I can play this over and over again just to satisfy my eager of real blues, Because it's white don't put this off. White guys do have the blues at times too. It's not privileged to blacks only.

No doubt they are Fenton's lyrics. On the Anthology album of Duane Allman's work, credit is given as it should be. Behind Brother Duane playing some of the most searing righteous blues of his career, Boz does a slow burning blues cover of the lyrics.

Why hang around here? Try to find a "I hate Boz" website, and go there. I usually don't post negative vibes, but you pressed me to it. Go to You Tube sights that you like and post positive thoughts, please. Go to Fenton Robinson's You Tube sights and enjoy him. The music is here for us to enjoy, not to trash.

To all of those who have verbally abused me for pointing out a well known fact, please go to All Music Guide and look up Fenton Robinson's bio from which I quote, "But it was his stunning slow blues "Somebody (Loan Me a Dime)" cut in 1967 for Palos, that insured his blues immortality. Boz Scaggs liked it so much that he covered it for his 1969 debut LP. Unfortunately, he initially also claimed he wrote the tune; much litigation followed. "

Boz Scaggs lifted Fenton Robinson's lyrics from his 1967 tune and married them with a generic minor key progression instead of Robinson's changes which had more movement. Yet, lo and behold, Duane is able to rescue the effort with a brilliant solo. The only one who sounds uninspired is Scaggs. Way to go! Rip off a struggling but more talented blues artist and phone in your performance. No wonder he soon joined the disco sellout with memorable tracks like" Low Down". Thank goodness for Duane.

Sorry. I didn't realize this was a fan club. I don't usually post negative comments either but was "pressed" into it by the fact that someone thinks they can take another's copyrighted work without giving credit to the author and pass it off as their own. I'm sure even Boz and his management aren't crazy about the unauthorized use of his performance here. Try to have a nice day and appreciate that opinions other than your own have a right to be voiced.

LOL - Blazer here
@Quashieman12 жыл бұрын
Interesting. You cannot refute the fact that Boz tried to pass off someone else's work as his own so you engage in an ad hominum attack on the commenter. You have absolutely no way of knowing whether I'm angry or, as you say, give off negative vibes. You simply don't like the facts I present. As someone once said, "You are entitled to your own opinion but you are not entitled to your own facts."
