I mix my own oils…I would either use a grape seed oil or avocado oil..then add a few drops of neem, rosemary, nettle and saw palmetto oil and shake it up. For my retwist I make some flaxseed gel and add fenugreek seeds to the mix while it boils. I keep it simple as possible and everything I use keeps my locs soft and helps it grow.

@@jasminepayne1895 sorry I’m seeing this late but you can find grape seed oil in Target. That’s where I usually get it.

When you oil your locs is it just the root or the whole loc? And do you alternate the oils when using them?

I oil the entire loc. I usually start by oiling my scalp and then I rack my hands through my hair and squeeze the oil into my locs. I always keep a bottle of the healing oil in my cabinet and then I kinda alternate between other oils depending on what my hair needs or if I just want to try something new.

I live in a very cold place and I just had to grease my scalp because my hair and scalp is getting really dry. Today high temp was -4. Have you ever used grease?

I use grease in my hair for my locs but try to focus on using the grease on just your scalp instead of your hair because it can cause buildup in your locs 😊

No I never used grease on my locs. Im in Cali so I haven't really experienced extreme weather conditions to where I felt it was necessary lol. But if it works for you, I'd say go for it lol. I'd also recommend doing a hot oil treatment.

was there ever a moment where you’re like “my roots aren’t locking”?!?! if so what did you do to fix it?!

I definitely had those moments, but honestly I feel like the roots will never truly "look locked" because our hair grows from the scalp. Therefore the roots will always look more loose compared to the ends because they're constantly going through the locking process, if that makes sense? Interlocking opposed to retwisting can help with the loose roots, but honestly you have to just give it time.
