Hey! You can fix the space without any tools. Yes - The locs in question were interlocked through the same direction twice (which created the loophole). To fix it without tools... Just like your buddy was using his fingers to interlock... You take the loc and push it in between the two strands... Not through the huge gaping hole... but literally plow through the middle of one from it’s side, continue through the gaping hole from the same direction and plow in-between the hairs of the other. You’re trying to close the gap so you’re “sewing” it closed. I know it’s confusing without a demonstration though... KZbin: “Fixing holes in sisterlocks, interlocking” and you’ll see how they fix it on small baby locs. Same concept... just now on your larger locs and you can use your fingers because your locs are much bigger than theirs. I’ve made plenty of holes in the past... They’re easy to fix, but will NEVER fix theirselves and palm rolling won’t do it. Your other option is using a crochet hook (another instant fix), but I find people either know what they’re doing with it or never learn. It’s supposed to be super easy though... especially since your locs are still soft and not fully mature.

close the hole up but ordering a .6 crochet hook and do the instant loc method. that’s should work. and you gonna have build up bc of the loc butter it attracts dirt. you might have low porosity hair so your hair holds on to product more then normal. i use the carols daughter wash day wonder it’s a micellar water and it really helps with build up. i hope this helps.

Your hair looks beautiful. I’m currently on 3:30... I’m not sure if you’ve used Dr. Bonner’s Castle soap shampoo but it is amazing for cleaning locs (and getting the yucky build up out). Just definitely make sure to moisturize with oil afterwards. I used it on my first set of Locs when ever I needed a really good cleaning; typically once a month or every other month (because it literally strips everything.)

When you interlock your locs in the same direction it causes holes in your locs and that’s what you’re seeing there . You can still interlock but you’d have to use the 2 point rotation or 3/4 point rotation and stay away from same point rotation . Locs look great tho !

I used to use Dr. Bronners. Loved it! But I noticed my buildup disappeared when I stopped using Dr. Bronners. That could be what is causing your buildup. I now use Shea Moisture JBCO restore shampoo. No buildup. I also use on occasion Neutrogena No Residue shampoo, it’s an awesome clarifying shampoo.

Yaaay! Finally a new vid 😊. Nooooo, don't cut/split it, none of the locticians I watch on KZbin recommends it, your locs will get weak. You can watch DXLYN Locs on KZbin, she has a couple videos on how to crochet them, you can also order the tools from her.. Or find a professional (if after you watch vids you don't think you can do it yourself) just to let them do the crochet thingy on those alone.

Tracey-Ann Lawrence I’ll check her videos out and then go from there. I’m thinking about just going to a professional to deal with it.

Hey I had the same issue with build up after using dr bronners peppermint soap and I’ve found that it was the shampoo causing it. No matter how much I rinse or diluted it. So I opted for Suave Deep Cleansing Shampoo and ever since then I haven’t had that issue....trust me you’re doing everything right because I only use 2 products in my hair as well.

I know I’m late but the interlocking was done incorrectly that’s why your roots are like that it’s important to know to to properly interlock before jumping in and trying to do it
@JussTooPretty4 жыл бұрын
If you’re comfortable with it, you can get a double needle crotchet hook and crotchet the space/gap back together and if it’s done properly you shouldn’t have any more problems with the spacing.☺️ good luck on your loc journey boo💕

Hey Candace, firstly I just wanna say how BEAUTIFUL your locs are..truly!!! ..now about your concerns..I am not a locticianist but when it comes to build up, from all the videos I've watched, it usually comes down to product and I know you said most of your journey you only used oils.. so could it have started from when you began using the butter?? since the build up shows up in the exact same area you applied the butter..? and when it comes to the gaps.. I would say yes. start using a crochet needle .. it would truly help and also when crocheting try going in different directions. specifically directions that help to close the 'Y' shaped gap.. hope that was helpful sis.. cant wait to see an update..x

Do not cut them down the middle. That will make it worse. Just loop the hair in the opposite direction to close the hole up. Not loop through the hole but on the opposite side. That will close the hole up. Then you retwist from there

Your locs look soo good .. your second problem is from interlocking the same direction more than once. Someone else said Dxlyn locs channel I also recommend her that's where I learned that from actually

Robyn Townsend okay I’ll definitely check her out. ASAP.

First off, I just love your personality😜. Whenever my son and I would use Dr. Bronners soap (diluted) we would see a lot of white residue. I only use water to retwist and oil on our scalp, so I stopped with the soap, went back to shampoo and all is well! When interlocking make sure you do the 3-4pt rotation to prevent spaces. Don't cut your loc, you can fix it, I know YT has plenty of videos. Thanks for sharing. New subbie here 🖐️
@januaryforward13204 жыл бұрын
You could interloc those that have separated. Just go through the two pieces at the same time. That’s the only way I know how to fix it. Only like a two point rotation 🤷🏾♀️ your hair is beautiful!
