Cousin Mam Binta my mama never measured any ingredients either. This video also helps me to appreciate the wood burning stoves I saw in other peoples homes. They may have taken some of us Afurakans out of Afuraka but they weren't able to take all of the Afurakan out of us Afurakans in amerikkka. These videos are so much appreciated because I personally feel that they show the real Gambia as opposed to the commercial romanticized versions I see on youtube. Thank you cousin Mam Binta and Sister Marie. Trench...

Thank you for sharing. Use baking powder instead of using bicarbonate of soda. Bicarbonate of soda is too strong and can make your cakes bitter. There is not need to cover the pot with the cloth, the lid alone is enough. I did a similar video showing how to steam cakes a white ago. If you have foil or some baking paper you can cover your cake tin and tie it with string first before you put it in the pot. You could also use sand like someone suggested.
@africandiaries3 жыл бұрын
And thank you very much for the advise! Really appreciated, seems like you bake a lot
@riddimchef16 ай бұрын
Bicarbonate of soda is fine, just be careful and not add too much. A splash of lemon juice will make it the same as baking powder 👍🏾 Excellent job you did 🙌 The flour and milk etc is called a batter as opposed to dough.
