Thailand didnt change their tuktuk design, London retained the primary design of their Black cab & minimal changes for the London red bus, Venice's gondola, Dubai's abra boats, San Francisco didnt obsolete their old trams vs modern trams, etc. What common with these mode of transports are they became their country/city's icon (& these countries have bigger economies by the way) and tourists do appreciate it. Philippines just need to modernized the system of public transpo actually esp for the jeepneys & also educate the drivers and instill discipline to them. The govt must support these kind of innovation for the iconic jeepney. no to CHINA mini buses

Absolutley Right! Im wondering why they want to phase out the Jeepney. Maybe the politics are against the American made Jeep that they left behind. And wanted more indepence looks by illimating the Jeep images...😅😅

Thailands tuktuk is equivalent to Phil tricycles, w/c is not being phased out. They're for "last miles". Phil motor-taxi's also offers alternative transpo. So tuktuk isn't equuvalent to Jeepney. Bangkok has extensive train system & city bus run by Bangkok Transit Authority. And It's ridiculous to compare Venice Gondola, & SF Trams to Jeepneys - different in functions & purpose. There's only one tram route in San Francisco, retained primarily as a tourist attraction. The rest has been replaced by "muni" & BART trains, and single operator city bus. London double decker red bus replaced the historical horse-driven, & electric trams called "Tramlink". Even in the Philippines, Kalesa & Karatela were the historical mass transport, not the jeepneys. Jeepneys were makeshift transport that came out of WWII U.S. military jeeps. There's so many historical icons that have past their prime, and have been replaced by more efficient modern designs, and jeepneys are no different. Otherwise, should we retain nipa huts and 18 century adobe building designs for all our buildibgs? Relegating a few to just tourist attractions is fine, but not as the primary design for all

@@andi_Lee I agree with the modernization but at least patrionize the locally made improved modern jeepneys also the main point of my argument here is you're erasing one part of our culture. Jeepenys = Philippines, same as when you see a tuktuk, you think of Thailand, when you see a black cab & red bus = automaticallt you associated them with London. You know what I mean? These gondolas, abra boats, open trams, tuktuk, black cab, red bus, jeepneys. All of them became symbols of their respective places. Those countries even they're wealthy still preserves the earliest designs of these vehicles bcoz it's part of their culture. London is going electric & can phaseout these black cab and just buy Teslas or Prius but no, they changed their engine into EV but retain its original body & design, why? Because they give importance to their heritage as how they maintain their old buildings, retrofitted for the safety and let modern cafe's & restaurants,/store used those buildings. Well I cannot blame you as #ColonialMentality is really widely spread instilled to the minds of Filipino that contrary claims that they are patriotic yet they prefer foreign brands, products & artists/celebrities. That's why Filipino's "SOFT POWER" dont spread globally (eventhough Filipinos are spread everywhere overseas) bcoz they're not a good promoter/ambassador of their own country, own country's products or country's artists. They will choose H&M, Uniqlo, Forever21 rather than Bayo, Maldita, Kamiseta or Bench/Penshoppe. They will prefer Kpop/Hollywood rather than the OPM acts. Bcoz they want to look sosyal & nakaka-angat sa iba.

Allowing these PUJ's to Renew their Franchise & Registrations without the Proper Inspections which Badly needed for Public Utility Vehicles to assure the Safety & Average Comfort of the Commuters.. Maganda kung magkaroon ng local made dito na pagawaan ng modern jeep, hindi lang ung loob pate na ren labas. Wag sana maging attached ang mga pinoy sa classic jeepney look dahil hindi naman tayo ang nakaimbento nyan. Remember americano yan, ginawa lang naten pulic transport kase mahirap na bansa tayo, la tayo mga matatalinong engineers at pera panggawa ng mga train noong panahon na ginawang public transport ang jeepney.
