💈 Local Shave w/ Friendly Old School 82-Year-Old Okinawan Barber | Nago Japan

During our time in Okinawa last year, it was a pleasure to meet old school barber Mr. Kazuo who is 82 years old 💈❤️ He is very friendly and enjoys talking with his customers! His frequent laughter made us smile :)
When Mr. Kazuo was 16, he left his hometown in Southern Okinawa to study barbering in Tokyo and Osaka. While working in Osaka, many people would ask for him because he was well known for being good at face shaving for women.
After working in Osaka and Tokyo, he returned to Okinawa and began different businesses. One as a beekeeper and a jewelry shop as well. Being an entrepreneur, he started up businesses and sold them once they began to do well and then moved on to the next one.
新垣理容室 / Aragaki Barbershop located in the northern Okinawa town of Nago has been in business for over 40 years and is one of the last true old school barbershops in Okinawa. A colorful yellow exterior and bright spinning barber pole greet customers.
Inside tropical orchids thrive with the attention and care of Mr. Kazuo who loves plants 🪴 He says, “Plants were the first things that thrived as life on Earth and I really respect them.”
His shop is near the mountains and Sakura 🌸 where he enjoys taking a walk each day.
✨ Mr. Kazuo would like his shop to be a place where people can relax and restore both mind and body.

I can’t get over the sheer amount of hours spent shaving and hair cutting it must have taken over the years to get the faded lines in the tiles around the chairs. A sure sign that this barber and this establishment just might know what they’re doing. Fantastic video

It is so nice to watch old men working because they have decades of experience. Althoug he only needs 40 seconds to forget where he lays his razor he is such a kind person and he is still working. This man deserves nothing but respect. The shave is wonderful! So clean that harry's beard will never grow again 😅❤❤

Have to thank you Harry, not just for the videos that are nice and relaxing and masterfully filmed and edited but for helping me improve at shaving my face. i i'm 31 and i've always struggled to shave the lower part of my neck because my beard changes growth direction, and I tried everything, just couldnt shave it without getting razor burns bad. Through your videos I used some the techniques I saw and i've for the second time in 16 years shaved with no problems at all. So thank you and thank you to the barbers that were featured.
