The murals were done to honour the boys in alum pride. What’s the harm in promoting tours to see the murals, their alma mater? It’s just like visiting any other historical/ popular landmark. Hybe shouldn’t have a problem with this in all honesty.

Can you imagine if the Dodgers / Shohei sued Japanese tour companies for selling a package involving going to Shohei's mural in LA? and a Dodgers game?

I think what’s illegal is for those tourism agencies using the artist voice to promote the said spots without Hybe’s permission. Yes, they can promote the place for tourists visits but they should not be using the artists voice in the pretense that they are promoting them without the artists/agencies permission, if for any reason something went wrong, then they will be part of the blame without them knowing it.

@@mb6705 No, that's not what the video says. They are claiming because the mural uses the artist's face, they have exclusive rights. It's silly. Again, this exact scenario is going on with Shohei Ohtani since an artist drew a huge mural in LA.

​@@HKim0072They said the government should not advertise the location as part of a tour package. The mural can stay as long as it's not for commercial purposes. Once someone is earning money based on those images, then it becomes a copyright infringement. I can make a mural in honour of anyone or place, but if I start charging people money for it, I will need the original artist/place permission, unless it's a charity organization's or they are no longer alive.

Sorry I am an ARMY and I think that in this instance, Hybe is being unfair and a bit greedy. Fans should be able to visit sites that are public and as long as the tour company is not using intellectual property illegally, they should be able to operate. For foreign tourists who have not been to Korea, understand that navigating to some of these locations can be challenging esp if you do not have a local phone number or if you can read or write Korean. Hybe, be more generous with small businesses and allow them to offer theses tours at a reasonable price. Like the Butter beach and the Wings bustop, ARMY want to see these places. You've monetized so much as it is. Make it easier for ARMY to celebrate BTS when they come to Korea.

I think Hybe just need a permission from them before using their artist.. There is nothing wrong about using BTS to promote their school or businesses as long as they ask permission to BTS and HYBE.. then it's okay. Cause if they only use BTS for their own good, their own business but not support or defend BTS in return that's unfair to the artist

What’s illegal is for them to be using the artists voice in promoting the place without the artist/agency’s permission. They can promote the place for tourists visits, but using the artist voice to promote them without their knowledge is wrong. What if something went wrong, the artists/ agency will be blamed without them knowing it. Like you wouldn’t want anyone to use your name in any transactions without you knowing it right?

Although I agree with you that this seems like a very minor incident, if Big Hit doesn't continue to follow their no leniency policy for this sort of thing it will happen far more often. If they start to pick and choose then people will become more bold and think "well they didn't take legal action against THAT person so if I just do what they did I will be okay". Plus, it's ILLEGAL. You cannot use someone else's IP to make money for yourself and any legitimate business knows this. So there's really now excuse for this travel agency. On the other hand it would be kinda cool if some ARMY who have been to South Korean and been to these sort of places got together and provided a guide for other ARMYs to help them out. There used to be an account that did this on twitter but they shut down a long time ago.
