Axl Rose performed at Freddie Mercury's Memorial in 1992. Freddie had loved Elvis so much that he wrote "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" in 1979 as a tribute to Elvis .Lisa Marie loved Queen and Freddie so much that when she saw them in concert shortly after her father died, she gave Freddie one of Elvis' scarves. Our lives often have beautiful threads running through it. Lisa's certainly did.

I think he and Lisa had a lot in common, with the exception that Lisa had plenty of love as a child, whereas he was treated awful by a stepfather. He found out his true last name was Rose and not Bailey. I had a great uncle named Bill Bailey, he was musically talented, too. With a fiddle, banjo and guitar.

I pray for them and ask God to Comfort , Guide, Strengthen, Love and give them Understanding. At 14 their precious minds cannot endure losing their Mother. Look what happened to Lisa's Life. She lost her Daddy at 9 years old. Then lost her Son Benjamin 3 years ago. Such sad and devastating losses. I'm sorry that I commented too much. I have never been a fan of Axl Rose, but I thought his demeanor, behavior and performance at Lisa Marie's memorial was exemplary; I did not know who he was at first, but his big, square rings let me know that he was someone important. I was particularly impressed by his humility which may have come from his troubled upbringing in Indiana. Of all the people who provided a tribute to Lisa Marie at the memorial, Axl Rose's testament was the only one that left me with something. It is easy to see why he was asked to speak and perform, even if he was surprised that they asked him to do so.

People give Axl so much crap for not looking like he looked 30 years ago, not singing how he sang 30 years ago, and so on. They're missing the salient point that this guy is a survivor. He was his generation's Elvis. And like Elvis that level of iconoclastic fame forced him into a lonely bubble. But he came out the other side, still able to go around the world entertaining and making millions of people happy. But I wouldn't be surprised if he relates to Elvis. And I'm not surprised he related to Lisa Marie, who was born into that kind of rarified air. So I imagine losing one of the few people who might understand that would be really difficult. Obviously it was. No amount of fame and fortune can change the fact that we are all confronted with our mortality through the mortality of those close to us. Pain is still pain.
