Locality Review: Defence Colony, New Delhi

Defence Colony was created after the partition in 1947. Newly independent India allotted land in the 1960s to resettle serving Indian military officers whose homes were across the border.
Today, it is an upmarket locality in South Delhi with zooming property prices and posh apartments. The area is also home to a large expat community.
Major reasons are its connectivity, peaceful environment & the livability and lifestyle quotients.
Defence Colony is surrounded by Lajpat Nagar to the East, Lodhi Colony to the Northwest, South Extension to the Southwest, and Greater Kailash-I to the South. Localities like Jangpura and Andrews Ganj are also nearby.
The locality has all kinds of social facilities in place. It is known for its high-street market, which houses various clothing brands, gift galleries, restaurants, pubs, parlors, and shops to fulfill daily requirements.
Other than this, the well-known markets of Lajpat Nagar and South Extension, which are famous for wedding shopping, are at walking distance.
GK M Block Market is about 4-5 km from here. The famous wooden and furniture market, Kotla Mubarakpur, is right opposite to the locality.
