Kamianka, situated in the Kharkiv region, faced devastation at the hands of the Russians during the fighting and subsequent occupation. As they retreated, they mined the houses and their surroundings. Despite the palpable risk and wide-scale destruction, local residents have begun to return home. They are taking on the monumental task of rebuilding their houses and attempting self-conducted demining. Despite the grave danger involved, which has already resulted in injuries to nine individuals, the locals persist in their efforts to remove mines using shovels and other makeshift tools. They acknowledge that the State Emergency Service (SES) is already stretched thin and express a desire to lend a hand.
