This is exactly why I say I only know a little bit of Khmer or say I don’t understand anything. Once I start speaking more than the bare minimum, these types of situations occur and it’s very stress-inducing for me. Overtly flirtatious behavior, people stopping and staring, talking over each other, more people come out to speak about everything under the sun, etc. I understand people get excited about the novelty of it, but it’s just uncomfortable for me.
