Chloe, you're an endless source of inspiration to every music lover around the world. I really hope we can listen to your superb performances for decades to come. If you ever go to Europe, make us know, I wouldn't miss the opportunity to listen to you live! Best wishes from Spain 🙂

Yeah, I agree. I really enjoy how Chloe and her musical talent grows each year. Not only she has a brilliant violin technique which is now "standard" on international competitions, but also other gifts and talents from the "God of the music itself" such as Perfect Perfect Perfect Perfect pitch (her intonation and stability of pitch is literally better then piano accompaniment, not mentioning orchestra), her passion for phrasing, music content and structures (I already wrote she is an "architect in music"), her perfectionism for details and intuition, so that she can play the same composition 10 times differently and it is always convincing interpretation. Yes, I don't idolize Chloe, everything I said is true. She is a bit of shy personality, she doesn't play overly aggressive which is the "standard" nowadays (unfortunately many orchestras are producing rather noise then music) and if I want listen to some Beethoven music or something similar, I probably wouldn't pick Chloe's record... yet. Because she rather excels in Mozart's music or early romantic music. And of course baroque music. Interestingly she performs well in very difficult to understand music of XX century and contemporary music generally, despite of the fact that many of older and more experienced interprets with Big Names are lost in it.

It's interesting how much anger and hatred a young talented girl from Singapore must face, just because she can play better than the vast majority of professional violinists. If it were up to me, I would like to hear her live in Europe, but alas, she has a professional contract in Singapore, and probably for a reason. Maybe she is tired of similarly arrogant and disrespectful people? Maybe our European audience is not ready for the fact that we missed the train and European music now belongs to Asia ?

The whole performance that Chloe gave of this concerto, i.e. including not only the superb second movement but the third movement complete with a caprice/cadenza that is even more stunning than this one, is now available on the SSO's channel exclusively to members. Also available there exclusively to members is the performance Chloe gave at the same concert of Vivaldi's "Four Seasons" in its entirety, and likewise the entire performance that she gave of Bruch #1. Although this selection from the Locatelli is freely available, and likewise so too are the Bruch finale and three of the twelve movements that make up Four Seasons, it is difficult to exaggerate how much more magnificent and profoundly rewarding Chloe[s performances are when viewed in their entirety. E.g. the Bruch #1 Adagio is an ecstatic effusion of love that is out of this world. It costs 2SGD - less than the cost of a coffee - to become a member of SSO's channel for one month, during which time you can watch Chloe's performances of the Locatelli, Four Seasons and Bruch #1 in their entirety as often as you like. You don't have to continue your membership, but if after the first month you decide you would like to the cost is an additional 2SGD for each further month. In addition to your own enjoyment, by paying 2SGD and becoming a member you would be making a gesture of gratitude to Chloe and the SSO for the huge pleasure they have given to everyone these past few years.🙂 Becoming a member takes a couple of minutes. Details are on SSO's channel.

Locatelli's caprices were practiced by Paganini. Locatelli was a reclusive character and very few people actually got to hear him play - his recitals were private. He lived most of his life in Amsterdam. He owned a book collection of more than one thousand volumes. He died in 1764.

I thank Chloe for the beautiful recording. It is pure joy listen to old Baroque music played with such care and tone culture. It seems to me that the center of European music is slowly but apparently shifting to the East as young violin virtuosos are mainly from the East and new trends and standards are developing there. Maybe Chloe would like to return to this masterpiece again as some parts can reach the absolute level of perfection in the music recording studio only, I'm afraid. For example this part - difficulty level 11 out of 10 :) kzbin.info/www/bejne/fmbTdpRpqZmCn7s Respect. Especially because of the fact that this is live performance recording.

Pietro Antonio Locatelli, is an Italian virtuoso violinist and composer of baroque music, one of the greatest violinists of his time. It's about Violin Concerto in D Major, Op. 3 No.12 entitled « Il labirinto armonico ». The score opens with the first movement Allegro - Capriccio. This piece comes from the work L'arte del violino published in 1733. The Collection includes 12 concertos for solo violin, strings and basso continuo, to which is added a capriccio for unaccompanied violin inserted in the first and the last movement of each concerto as a sort of cadenza. It's about of a panorama technical possibilities of the violin and from a technical point of view, it reaches the frontiers of the realizable. L'arte del violino has reached a renown and influential because these « capriccio » are considered to be the most difficult passages to perform in the violin literature of the entire Baroque period. The sonority limpid and imaginative phrasing of Chloe Chua are exceptional in this short concerto. Chloe's virtuosity must impress listeners her age. *Lucien*
