Ive been a Location Scout for 7 years at Miramax.... I would say my favourite location I scouted was Pulp Fiction.. The scene where Butch runs over Marcellas Wallace in a Californian Street !

Sounds great Preston! Most projects shoot in LA and Atlanta, but sometimes we have projects in Miami. DO you know of any large mansions that could work for music videos?

We use google maps for the initial search. We also have several databases built by location managers through the years with a lot of locations that have been pre scouted.

Thanks Axel. As a scout in Ga, I have had a director ask for 35mm framed pics and another show asked for 20-25mm only. In California, do you have film liaisons help?

In LA we had most of the locations already scouted and people shoot a lot on the same places. In GA I have used liaisons outside of the city and they were very helpful. We moved to shooting with iPhones since they got so good and we could upload directly to Smug mug

Some of the tips will work. The permits and fees are different but the strategy to find a good location should work the same
