Loch Lomond (fiddle lesson)

Loch Lomond is one of the best known Scottish songs. In this fiddle lesson I demonstrate the basic melody, then look at how to improve it with the Scotch Snap, with ornamentation (cuts and hammer-ons) and with drones and double stops. I also look at the version by Runrig, with their epic intro riff. I use on-screen sheet music, and a free pdf of the sheet music for Loch Lomond is available to subscribers (see below). This song has always intrigued me , because the story is so sad in the Scottish version and it yet it is happy in the Irish version (Red Is The Rose ) . I don't know if I can recall another song that is like this ? Thanks Chris , as usual another good song . I usually play this one with a G melody maker harmonica , why ? I don't know ! but it sounds good .
