Continuing our Scotland Trip. A day out to Loch Muick that is part of the Balmoral Estate near Ballater. A cool day but the views were fantastic and we saw quite a few deer grazing. They were a bit far off for the zoom on my camera but you could still see them. After our walk we drove into Ballater, only a couple of miles away and went to the Ballater Old Royal Station which has been converted into a visitor centre and café. The café has been laid out like old railway carriages and the cream tea was excellent. An interesting story as to why the train stopped here and didn't go all the way to Braemar. Apparently Queen Victoria didn't want to see it running through Balmoral so it stopped here. Another fact was one of the walks around Lock Muick. Lochnagar, I thought I had heard of it before then realised King Charles wrote a children's book many years ago called the Old Man of Lochnagar. Very interesting.
