Aesthetically this is one of the most beautiful coasters I’ve ever seen. The way they really planned out it’s track on a hill going through the forest and over the river at different elevations makes it stunningly cool

This ride is one of my absolute favorites. When I was little, the thought of looping coasters terrified me. So it took a few years before I finally rode it. But one thing that has stuck in my head since day one is the distinct sounds of the chain lift. It's instantly recognizable from anywhere within earshot of the ride. It starts with the rush of clicks once the train first hits the lift, then the steady clicks going up the hill, finishing up with the lingering clicks once the last car of the train reaches the top. I even know the rumble of the train that follows as it goes around the bend for the first drop. I do miss the theming inside the tunnel (illuminated Nessie and the mist of water at the tunnel exit), but it's still a great ride. It's not always about speed and height.

This was my first looper, back in the 1980s. I remember how that first drop into the gorge felt when I rode it the first time--like it went on forever and ever, and I knew that the loop couldn't be so bad after riding through that. For several years after construction it was the tallest complete-circuit coaster in the world, though by the time I rode it it had been superseded by Dragon Mountain at Marineland.

You check out our former ride, I think it's made by the same company, I do plan on riding the loch ness monster, but I think ours may have been slightly better as we had that boomerang loop... type this into youtube search "Orient Express, Worlds of Fun 1995"

I never been Busch gardens Williamsburg, why couldn't nessie be removed and scraped why keep a arrow instead of a smooth arrow suspended coaster ?
@greysonsmith10244 жыл бұрын
@MTF Big Bad Wolf was removed because of Mechanical issues and it was hard to get parts. This is an ACE Landmark and the park wants to keep it running as long as they can.

The big bad wolf was one of a kind too, and it makes me sad that they couldn't preserve it somehow or find ways to get replacement parts.

Is there a reason the lift hill for this ride is extremely slow? It just seems to take forever.
@tekcomputers7 жыл бұрын
Arrow coasters (Lock Ness was made by Arrow) were known for their slow lift chains. Corkscrew at Cedar Point is another one made by Arrow with slow liftchains, and the Python which used to be at Busch Tampa also had slow lift chains.

I don't understand how the current restraints make it so that you can't have the trains go through the loops at the same time anymore.

Went to Busch gardens in year 1978 when I was 5 years old with my family . I couldn't ride i was too small. My pops who passed away 9 years ago was a officer in the Coast Guard in Chesapeake VA. I'm going there next year in 2023🎢🎢🎢

What was the 'clear the track' all about?
@RockyandTuck9 жыл бұрын
They usually do that when the ride has stopped and is resetting/about to resume, or when they are adding/subtracting a train to the track. I have visited this park many times, and I've ridden this roller coaster many times to know how this all works. "Clear the Loch Ness Monster track. Clear the Loch Ness Monster track!" *alarm wails* I always get the butterflies in my stomach whenever this happens. XD

I visited Busch Gardens in April 2021, and Loch Ness was CLOSED. We asked someone what the problem was, and they hinted at the possibility that this will be the last year of operation for the coaster. I hope he was joking. But time passes and things change and rides get old. At least I got to ride it when I visited the park in 1998.

In case you don't know, the first of riders Coaster Force has recorded only has 26 out of 28 passengers. I wonder why roller coasters aren't always fully loaded???

+John Dominic Hechanova Because people want to ride on the same train with their friends or family and in order to so sometimes prevent other guests from filling the seats by blocking the queue line.

+Tony Kim the only complaint are the restraints, I mean they are fine, so I guess I mean the size of the train, im not a big person by any means but depending on which side of the train you are on, the arm closest to the wall has no mobility, so basically you have your arm smushed up against a wall for the entire ride which is quite uncomfortable. honestly if they got new trains from vekoma that keep the original style body and colors but just slightly wider, it would be much more enjoyable. (im refrencing the trains on some vekoma boomerangs like tidal wave in ocean city, MD)

Baymax That's a fair complaint. Since I've ridden it so many times, the trains are very comfortable for me. I don't even notice that anymore. Thinking about it, it is awkward to reach that one grab bar. It was a bit uncomfortable on my first ride, but it wasn't Tempesto uncomfortable. Those Premier trains are tight! With that said, the restraints on Loch Ness Monster aren't the original restraints. The original restraints were just this thin bar with no handles.

Although the theming in the tunnel is gone, there is still plenty of theming in the line. Plus, the name fits with the overall theme of the park.

It's in the Scotland section of the Park, and Loch Ness is Scottish. Also it was a monster in its original form. At the time this coaster was built (1978) it was the talest and fastest rollercoaster, as well as the first (and now only remaining) coaster with interlocking loops.
