How is the 3d export than the previous 3d export support? I’ve been able to use it in blender with an alembic with a recent version. The new version looks amazing in c4D, but I need those features in Blender.

The new exporter for Alembic is very similar, but it includes new features too. The past version only let you export a 2D mesh, this new exporter includes all the 3D data from the new 3D tab. It also allows you to create and export transforms, which you couldn't do in Lockdown 2. We're still considering a more proper exporter for Blender, we'll see where it lands on the priority list once we've had more feedback.

I'm currently still using 2.8.7, and I tried using lockdown and it's not tracking at all. The readers just stuck at the very beginning. I could really use the help. Thanks

Top notch plugin worth every penny... This should be an in-house feature as it is far superior to the default legacy tracker in Ae... As someone who previously used Mocha Pro for all my tracking I feel lockdown has officially become my tracker plugin... Great job as always...

I use mocha pro too and I get so disspointed with it at times with simple tracks that shouldn't be so difficult to track. Don't get me wrong, it's till a powerful tracker, but man sometimes it fails miserably when it really shouldn't. So you prefer Lockdown over Mocha pro?

@@robertamaral2349 i hear you... It really all depends on the track for me... I still use both but I feel when it comes to warping Lockdown wins... Mocha Pro basic planar tracking is on point in most instances... I don't do a ton of hardcore tracking these days professionally, but I still think neither is superior in all cases... Lockdown definitely is not flawless either... For me when it comes to paid work I just want the most efficient and cost effective without defacing the project at hand... I work in animation, vfx and motion design but as an independent contractor I can be involved in so many different types of projects... Even as I type this I haven't used either software in about a month and out of the 4 projects I am currently working on I think maybe one may use some tracking but nothing too intense that cant be done with After Effects built-in tracker... At the end of the day Mocha Pro is subscription and Lockdown isnt so I feel when my Mocha Pro expires I probably will just shift 100% to Lockdown... But if tracking was my specialty I feel I would use both in 2024...

This is a very dumb question, but when I begin a track like you do at the start of the tutorial, I'm not getting the tracker keyframes to show up in the bottom of my timeline... Is there a setting to turn this on/off? Thanks!

@@ZackEisenfeld actually, if you can believe it, I had the same question about a month ago and laughed about forgetting how my own software works. The bar is contextual. You must have a point selected to see its key frames!

hello, when selecting the area in the lockdown window (56sec in this video), no points get selected. is that a bug...?

what are interpolation points

@@ashio6205 when a point is tracked, it is light blue. But sometimes a point will be occluded by other objects, or you can't track it for some reason. When there are no keyframes for a point, it will interpolate and be shown as dark blue. A point is considered interpolated when it gets its motion from other tracked points, not from tracking itself.

I have a question. I am trying the free version and I am getting lines on my footage from the grid. Are you supposed to turn it off somewhere? Or is it a limitation of the software? :) Kind Regards from Denmark Jørgen

The free version lets you export null objects using the "3d nulls to Ae" button. There's a tutorial on the homepage showing which features are included in the free version, and how to create and export nulls. The mesh rendering is part of the paid version, and is covered by a watermark grid in the free version.

After you press Lockdown, you should see a checkerboard. If its not there, you probably need to go into the popout and make sure the mesh is set up. Go to the hero frame (or whichever frame you want to be the hero frame) and press "set Lockdown UV mesh frame". Then close the popout and press lockdown again

@@ChrisVranos the grid actually appears in a new composition but it occupies the entire width of the video and not only where I did the tracking and by adding an image nothing happens

obviously a powerful tool. and your a true developer with allot of skill. but you need someone else to explain and make tutorials on how to use it. it probably makes sense to you. but to tbh I been following for the third day and cant help but fall asleep.

Yeah after that initial part about trimming the footage and then suddenly he's applying it to a precomp I was lost from there onward.

@@frogiac In the main comp where trimming is happening, is to make sure no bugs happens, with the tracking, thats why you cannot trim it and you should have whole frame number. When he adds it to the next comp, is so you can move the comp around, rotate, scale, move it to the first frame or do what ever you want, because it doesn't affect the tracking. Think about precomps as if it was a folder. If you put main comp(folder) into a new folder, then you cannot see what is inside, so that means it cannot be changed or affected, so you can do what ever to that folder
